LAPLACE — After a third plus offense of domestic abuse battery, LaPlace resident Henry Ed Montgomery III, 31, was arrested with a $10,000 bond set by Judge Mary Hotard Becnel.

Montgomery allegedly attacked his live-in girlfriend after a dispute over a missing video game and went upstairs to ask his girlfriend’s daughter about the game and threatened to beat the girl with his belt, but the girlfriend took the blame to keep Montgomery from beating the girl and he allegedly beat his girlfriend instead, according to information provided by the St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office.

“She said he hit her several times in the face and her head with his belt,” said. Maj. Mike Tregre spokesman for the Sheriff’s Office. “She also said he beat her up with his hands and the belt.”

Montgomery’s girlfriend said he would not let her leave the house to go to work after he beat her, but after some time he let her leave, and she took her daughter and called 911 at a local gas station, according to information provided by the Sheriff’s Office.

Montgomery is being held at the Sherman Walker Correction Center in LaPlace.
