Local team headed to state

RESERVE—The 11-12 year old St. John Little League squad recently competed in the District Two tournament in Baker on July 8-13. Going 3-1 in the tournament and taking home first-place honors, the squad defeated Baker on Saturday, 10-0, Bogalusa on Sunday, 11-10, lost to Bogalusa on Tuesday, 5-2, but came back to win the rubber match between the two squads on Wednesday, 7-6. They are now headed to Lafayette, Louisiana to play in the Little League State Tournament. The tournament will began on Friday and will last until July 26th. The state tournament will feature the best little leagues from around the State of Louisiana will the winner earning a chance to move on to the Regional Tournament in Waco, Texas.
