RESERVE — A 25-year old Reserve resident was raped and robbed on July 14 at gunpoint after being awakened from her sleep.

A black male, standing around 5’5″ and wearing a black knit cap, a stocking over his face, a black sweatshirt and dark colored jeans broke into the residence in early morning hours.

“We received a call around 2:15 a.m.,” said Maj. Mike Tregre of the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office. “We are still investigating on how the suspect got into the house, but he went in, kneeled down beside her bed and woke her up by shaking her.”

The victim said she was sleeping and after she was woken up, the suspect had a gun to her face demanding money and her purse, according to Tregre.

“He grabbed her purse and her cell phone,” Tregre said. “He then proceeded by forcing her to remove all her clothing, laid her across the bed and raped her.”

Before the suspect left he took a Panosonic-51 disc CD player and fled in an unknown direction of travel, said Tregre.

“She was taken to River Parishes Hospital,” Tregre said. “She was treated and released.”
