BATON ROUGE — Two students that have graduated from St. John the Baptist Parish public schools, as well as one graduate from St. Charles Parish, will be honored next month by the Louisiana Department of Education for perfect attendance.

The honorees are three of 23 graduating seniors of Louisiana who have not been absent one day in all their years of schooling.

They come from 20 schools in 11 different parishes.

The students are Ramon Bailey, West St. John High; Justin Harvey, East St. John High; and Jennifer Goens, Hahnville High.

A reception and special recognition ceremony will be held the Claiborne Building in downtown Baton Rouge on June 16.

In a press release issued by the state department of education, State Superintendent of Education Cecil Picard stated, “Having perfect attendance for one year is something to brag about, but to have it your entire school life- all 12 or 13 years, is utterly amazing.

“We had approximately 40,000 seniors statewide this year, and less than two dozen will be honored next month. What an amazing feat.”

Rapides Parish led the pack with six students having perfect attendance, all of different schools.
