HAHNVILLE – An inmate at the St. Charles Nelson Coleman Correctional Center was reported missing from his work release program in Reserve, but later returned and taken into custody.

Kenneth Dixon, 24, was reported missing early morning on April 20, from his assignment at a barge cleaning company in Reserve, according to St. Charles Parish Sheriff Greg Champagne.

“He was gone for a few hours,” said Chief Joseph Cordella of the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office. “He went from the boat to the dock, then went onto the land and walked off.”

Dixon later returned to the site and was immediately taken into custody and booked as a fugitive in St. John the Baptist Parish, according to Sheriff Greg Champagne.

Dixon is considered to be a non-violent offender and was schedule to be released on “good time” in December this year. He is currently at the Neslon Coleman Correctional Center facing a simple escape charge.
