LAPLACE-The Belle Terre Country Club is now owned and operated by local investors Joseph Scontrino III and Tim Duhe’.

Scontrino and Duhe’ purchased the controlling interest in G&T Corporation, the Owners and Operators of Belle Terre Country Club L.L.C., for an undisclosed amount.

According to Duhe’, the two friends attempted to buy the club in 1991, but it turned out to be out of their reach.

“We told ourselves then that maybe being the first owner isn’t the best thing to be,” Duhe’ said, “but when the club was available this time it just felt right.”

Duhe’ and Scontrino will become the fifth owners of Belle Terre Country Club.

Duhe’ is the Gulf Coast purchasing manager for DuPont and currently resides in Houston with his wife and daughter, but the family will soon be relocating to LaPlace.

Scontrino, owner of Landcraft Companies, a real estate building and development company who is very active in the river parish region.

Scontrino expressed much excitement in he and Duhe’s newfound control over the country club.

“The fact that we can work together to bring something

back to our community for all generations to share makes this very special,” he said.

According to Duhe’, Belle Terre has been semi-private and open to the public since 2000, but fell short of really attracting non-members and non-golfers over this period of time.

He said the membership and community should look for some exciting changes coming soon at Belle Terre Country Club.
