LaPlace tavern robbery suspect arrested

LAPLACE – The prime suspect in the Jan. 2 armed robbery at Rusty’s Pool Tavern in LaPlace was arrested Monday.
Gary Booth Clinton Joseph Jr., 20, of LaPlace was charged with aggravated battery and armed robbery for the incident against Jonathan Oney, 19, of LaPlace.
According to the St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office incident report, Joseph struck Jonathan Oney in the face with a beer bottle while Clarence “CJ” Alvis held Oney in a choke hold.
Oney stated after he was hit in the face, he was robbed of $345 and his wallet. Four to five people were involved in the incident, and Oney could only identify two. Alvis and the other suspects have not been arrested. The suspects were last seen in a black Pontiac Grand Prix.
The owner of Rusty’s was unavailable for comment.
