LULING – Florestine Gassen Bourg, 87, a native and resident of Luling, died March 3.
She was the wife of the late Lionel Bourg, and mother of Lionel Bourg Jr.
She was also the daughter of the late John and Evelina Jordan Gassen, and siser of Ida Lorio, Villet Vieth, Sidney Sr., and John Gassen, and the late Emma Boudreaux, Anna Rousselle, Evelina Falgout and Stella Wilson.
She is also survived by three grandchildren.
Memorial services are March 7 at 10 a.m., at Holy Family Catholic Church, Luling, with interment at Holy Rosary Cemetery, Taft. Visitation starts Monday at 8:30 a.m.
DEAS
DESTREHAN – Robert E. Deas Jr., 73, a native of New Orleans and resident of Destrehan for 16 years, died Feb. 25.
He was the husband of Carol Sattler Deas and father of Susan Thibodeaux, Patricia, Conrad and Christopher Deas.
He was also the son of the late Catherine Mulligan and Robert Deas, and brother of Doris McReynolds and Donald Deas.
He is also survived by two grandchildren.
Services were Feb. 28 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Destrehan, with interment at Garden of Memories Cemetery.
DUHE
RESERVE – Early J. Duhe Sr., 85, a native and resident of Reserve, died March 1.
He was the husband of Lucille Cambre Duhe and father of Marie Guyden, Laura McDonnell and Early Duhe Jr.
He was also the son of the late Paul and Louise Millet Duhe, and brother of Rosa Galatas. He is preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers.
He is also survived by five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services were March 3 at St. Peter Catholic Church, Reserve, with interment at the church cemetery.
DURONSLET
HAHNVILLE – Elmira Oubre Duronslet, 97, a native of Vacherie and resident of Hahnville, died Feb. 24.
She was the wife of the late Dennis Duronslet, and mother of Jane Schexnayder, Annette Franklin, Agnis Robottom and Max Duronslet.
She was also the daughter of the late Andrew Sr., and Nellie Oubre, and sister of Marguerite Davis, Irene Legaux, Agnella Becnel and Henry Oubre, and the late Gertie Gauthier, Archangel Goins, Arthur, Andrew Jr., Paul and Sammy Oubre.
She is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Services were March 3 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Hahnville, with interment at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery, Edgard.
EARL
GARYVILLE – Velma Earl, 85, a resident of Lutcher, died Feb. 25. She was the mother of Timothy Fobb.
She is also survived by six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services were March 3 at New Hopeful Baptist Church, Garyville, with interment at Zion Travelers Cemetery, Lions.
GAUTHIER
EDGARD – Alvin “Gator” Gauthier, 76, a native and resident of Edgard, died March 2.
He was the husband of Leona Gauthier and father of Janet Favorite, Allen, Joseph Gauthier, Whitney and James Lumar, and the late Mark and Janice Gauthier and Fedorall Lumar.
He was also the brother of George and Emanuel, and the late Marion Pierre, Elmo, Joseph, Cornel and Doris Gauthier.
He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Services are today at 11 a.m., at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Edgard, with interment at the church cemetery. Visitation starts at 9 a.m.
HILLS
PARADIS – Ruth Naomi Hills, 71, a native of Paradis and resident of Boutte, died March 1. She was the mother of Samantha Williams, DeJuan, Daniel, Dwayne, Tyrone, and the late Robin Hills.
She was also the daughter of the late Eva Sumler and Spencer Hills Sr., and sister of Spencer Hills Jr., and the late Isabelle Dykes, Shirley Haynes, Delores Lane, Beatrice Humphrey, Robert and Ernest Hills.
She is also survived by 16 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Services are today at 11 a.m., at First Baptist Church, Paradis, with interment at the church cemetery. Visitation starts at 10 a.m.
JACKSON
EDGARD – Kalantha “Cocoa” Jackson, 42, a native and resident of Edgard, died March 1. She was the mother of Theron Clark.
She was also the daughter of the late Audrey Joseph and Lester Jackson, stepdaughter of the late Clarence Joseph, and sister of D’Andra Joseph.
She was a former board member of St. John Parish Housing Authority and a Resident Council member for the Housing Authority.
Services are today at 11 a.m., at New Jerusalem Baptist Church, Edgard, with interment at the church cemetery. Visitation starts at 9 a.m.
JACOB
LAPLACE – Kirt A. Jacob, 60, a native of Reserve and resident of LaPlace for 34 years, died March 3. He was the husband of Sandra Robert Jacob and father of Tina Brouwer and Kirt Jacob Jr.
He was also the son of the late Samuel and Eleanor Jacob, and brother of Beverly Ingraffia, Rita Cancienne, Karen Bailey, Samuel Jr., and Anatole Jacob.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War and was employed at the Bonnet Carre Spillway by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
Services are today at 10 a.m., aAt St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, LaPlace, with interment at garden of Memories Cemetery, Metairie. Visitation starts at 8 a.m.
JOHNSON
LAPLACE – Elizabeth Sterling Johnson, 54, a native and resident of Garyville, died March 1. She was the wife of J.W. Johnson and mother of Tennia Williams and Jason Stevenson, and stepmother of Jayson Bardell.
She was also the daughter of Alfred Sterling Jr., and the late Lillian Noel Sterling, and sister of Clara Radcliff, Peggy Bradford, Deborah Martin, Jo Ann Levi, Alfred “Kay” Jr., and Harold Sterling Sr., and Donald Noel Sr.
She is also survived by one grandchild.
Services were March 4 at New Home Ministries, LaPlace, with interment at St. John Memorial Gardens.
NARCISSE
RESERVE – Huey “Doe Boy” Narcisse, a resident of St. John the Baptist Parish, died Feb. 23. He was the fiancé of Ashley Smith.
He was also the son of Emma and Huey Narcisse Sr., and brother of Charleetha Narcisse.
Services are today at noon at Beechgrove Baptist Church, Reserve, with interment at St. John Memorial Gardens, LaPlace. Visitation starts at 9 a.m.
PERKINS
LUTCHER – Fred Perkins Jr., 58, a native and resident of Lutcher, died Feb. 22. He was the former husband of Betty Perkins and father of Shawn Bourgeois, April Washington, Monica Williams, Tharnell and Shannon Washington.
He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Services were March 4 at Israelite Baptist Church, Lutcher, with interment at Golden Wreath Cemetery, Lutcher.
ROQUES
PAULINA – Mary Ann “Poochie” Martin Roques, 55, a native and resident of Paulina, died March 1. She was the wife of 37 years of Nelson “Butch” Roques Jr., and mother of Danielle Lubrano, Tanya Peytavin and Darin Roques.
She was also the daughter of Bernice M. Martin, and the late Marc Martin, and sister of Barbara Roussel, Wanda Bienvenue, Sandy Weber, Carolyn, Mark, Ricky and Kenny Martin.
Services were March 3 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Paulina, with interment at the church mausoleum.
