EDGARD-The West St. John boys basketball machine continues to roll on.

Remaining unblemished in district 10-2A action, the Rams picked up yet another district win Mardi Gras night when they defeated Redeemer-Seton, 73-57.

Kevin Wright led the Rams with a game-high 19 points. Denarold Anderson had a solid night with 18 points and Dehaven Butler had 16 points. Tyren Johnson was the fourth Ram in double figures with 11 points.

The win pushes West St. John to an impressive 20-2 overall record and 7-0 in district 10-2A.

Concluding their home regular season schedule yesterday against Fisher with Senior Night, the Rams will wrap up the regular season next week with a pair of games on the road at St. Martin’s on Tuesday at 5 p.m. and Buras on Friday at 5 p.m.

As has been the entire season, the story of the game for the Rams was their relentless defensive pressure and cohesiveness on the offensive end. The Rams outscored Redeemer-Seton 73-57 in the second quarter in route to the blowout victory yet again.

With the loss of Damon Morris fading into the memories of his squad, West St. John head coach Antoine Edwards has relied on a multitude of players to contribute on the offensive end as well as the defensive end. This strategy is in started comparison to relying on a certain number of star players to carry the offensive load.

Thus far, the new coaching strategy for Edwards and the rest of his squad has been very successful.
