Local team takes home first place at parish tournament

J. B. Martin’s Boys “A” Basketball Team won this past weekends Parish Basketball Tournament at Landry Middle School with victories over Cammon 39-33, Hurst 46-44, and Landry 39-25 in the championship games. Top performers were Desmond Raymond with a 20 point average and 5 steals, Daniel Rafiel with 8 rebounds and 3 steals, Robert Gorden with 6 steals and 7 rebounds, Lamar Taylor with 5 rebounds and 3 blocks, and A. J. Austin with 12 points and 4 assists.
The team opened up the year with victories over Lockport 56-30 and Trist 39-34.
The “B” team defeated Cammon 17-7. Leading the way was Warren Lebeauf with 8 points, Jamere Joseph with 4 rebounds, and Joshua Taylor with 5 rebounds and 4 points.
