Vacherie – Oak Alley Plantation is currently looking for performers (individual or groups) to volunteer their talents at the 14th Annual Oak Alley Plantation Arts & Crafts Festival, to be held Saturday, March 12 and Sunday, March 13, 2005. The festival is held on the grounds of historic Oak Alley Plantation, and the entertainment will take place on stage underneath a tent on the festival site (Oak Alley will provide the sound system). Candidates must provide a minimum of a 30 minute performance as well as their own accompaniment.
More than 150 artists and crafters and area chefs will be on hand to exhibit their wares to an expected 14,000 visitors that weekend. Tours of the recently redecorated antebellum mansion will be conducted between 9:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. Admission proceeds from the festival will be used for the preservation, upkeep and maintenance of Oak Alley Plantation, which is owned and operated by a private, nonprofit foundation.
Those persons interested in volunteering to perform at this fund-raising event may contact Christy Naquin at 1-800-44ALLEY or (225) 265-2151.
