ABBATE
NORCO – Salvador Joseph Abbate, 49, a resident of LaPlace, died Dec. 20. He was the son of Dora Abbate and brother of Margurite Weber of Frances Blunt, Michael, Frank, Joseph, Peter and Urain Abbate.
Services were Dec. 27 in the chapel of H.C. Alexander Funeral Home, Norco, with interment at St. Charles Borromeo Mausoleum.
BAILEY
EDGARD – Numa “Ga’son” Bailey Jr., 82, a native and resident of Edgard, died Dec. 19. He was the husband of Marjorie Slyvain Bailey and father of Veronica Alexander, Varelyn Roussel, Shelia Bethancourt, Marsha Bailey-Cantrelle, Sharon, Bruce, Wilson, Perry, Vernon and Bertrand Bailey.
He was also the son of the late Numa Sr., and Amelia Bailey, and brother of Ernestine Tucker, Cecile Alexander, Raymond Bailey, and the late Bernice Bovie, Leo Paul, Prescott Sr., Milburn and Walter Bailey.
Services were Dec. 27 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Edgard, with interment at the church mausoleum.
CROCKENS
LAPLACE – Julien N.C. Crockens, 3 months, a native and resident of LaPlace, died Dec. 18. He was the son of Danyelle Braud and Clinton Crockens Jr.
Services were Dec. 22 at New Vision Missionary Baptist Church, LaPlace, with interment at Providence Rest Haven Cemetery, LaPlace.
HAYDEL
VACHERIE – Marie Therese Waguespack Haydel, 86, a native of Vacherie and resident of New Orleans, died Dec. 26. She was the wife of the late John Haydel, and mother of Glenda Folse and John Haydel Jr.
She was also the daughter of the late Fernand and Berthe Schexnayder Waguespack, and sister of Arthur and Nelson Waguespack, and the late Calvin, Stanley, Mark and Fernand Waguespack.
She is also survived by two grandchildren.
Services are today at 11 a.m., at St. Philip Catholic Church, Vacherie, with interment at the church mausoleum. Visitation starts at 9 a.m.
LANDRY
LAPLACE – Delores Schexnayder Landry, 67, a native and resident of LaPlace, died Dec. 25. She was the wife by first marriage of the late Nemoure Millet Jr., and by second marriage of Percy Landry and mother of Lisa Poncia, Richard and Burton Millet.
She was also the daughter of the late Alfred and Malena LaBranche, and sister of Brenda Longaker, Gail Falterman, Delbert and the late James Schexnayder.
She is also survived by seven grandchildren.
Services were Dec. 28 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, LaPlace, with interment at St. Peter Cemetery, Reserve.
LONDON
RIVER RIDGE – Kenneth “Clerky” London, 51, a native of New Orleans and resident of St. Rose for 33 years, died Dec. 20. He was the husband of Gaynell M. London and father of Dianthus Livers, Kaci, James, Dianeff London, and Monique, Corey and Kenneth Monchaud.
He was also the brother of Bernadette Jefferson, Lorette Robinson and Valerie London.
He is also survived by 12 grandchildren.
Services were Dec. 28 in the chapel of Richardson Funeral Home, River Ridge, with interment at Jefferson Memorial Gardens, St. Rose.
MELANCON
PAULINA – Loretta Ann Melancon, 87, a resident of St. James Parish, died Dec. 25. She was the daughter of the late Elphege and Odile Poche Melancon, and sister of Rita Roussel, Daniel Melancon, and the late Beulah Laiche, Edward, Elphege, Mark and Alvin Melancon.
She was a former employee of Colonial Sugars in Gramercy.
Services were Dec. 28 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Paulina, with interment at the church mausoleum.
TREADAWAY
LULING – Elsie C. Treadaway, 79, a native of Raceland and resident of Luling, died Dec. 24. She was the wife of the late Manuel “Spot” Treadaway, and mother of Jan, Rodney and Corey Treadaway, and the late Wayne “Butch” Treadaway.
She was also the daughter of Henry and Viola Bertrand Chiasson, and sister of Norma “Tee” Roundtree, and the late Eula Lauve, Edwin “Pete,” Frances “Red” and David Chiasson.
She is also survived by nine grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Services were Dec. 28 at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Luling, with interment at Holy Rosary Cemetery, Taft.
