Ryan Perrilloux hit an 85-foot shot at the buzzer to lift East St. John to a 77-76 overtime victory over East Ascension.

The Wildcats trailed by a point after East Ascension hit a free throw with 2.7 seconds left. The second foul shot, however, was missed, and Perrilloux, the school’s star quarterback, grabbed the rebound, took two dribbles and threw up his 85-foot prayer.

“He threw a great pass and the basket received it,” East St. John head coach Charles Julien said.

Julien’s club sported an impressive 9-2 record after the win.

Point guard Willie Lago had another stellar effort in his team’s victory, and he finished the game with a team-high 23 points. Ryan Stipe tallied 20 points and Perrilloux finished with 17 points.

The game was close throughout, and the Wildcats held a 40-37 lead at the end of the first half. In the third quarter, though, East Ascension outscored its foe 15-9 to take a three-point lead of its own into the final quarter.
