Two nabbed for paintball assault

LAPLACE – Authorities with the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office arrested two 15-year-old boys Sunday after the youths shot paintballs through the window of a firetruck – striking a fireman in the head.

Two juveniles were shooting paintballs at approximately 11 a.m. at Airline Highway and Goshen Lane, Reserve, when one of the paintballs flew through a firetruck’s passenger window and hit its occupant in the back of his head.

Landing on the seat of the truck, the paintball burst and sprayed paint inside the vehicle.

The lads fled the scene but were later discovered hiding behind a local resident’s home.

After confessing to authorities, the boys retrieved their stashed paintball guns.

Both youths were arrested and booked into the St. James Juvenile Corrections Center.

The youth shooting the paintball gun was charged with impeding a firearm, aggravated battery, criminal mischief, criminal damage to property under $500 and principal to impeding a firearm.

The second youth, who was tagging along, was charged with principal to aggravated battery and principal to criminal damage to property under $500.
