HAHNVILLE – A Lafourche Parish inmate, serving time for check-kiting and other related charges, apparently walked off a work-release job site in Avondale and escaped custody some time Saturday.
However, the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office located Brandon Rougeau, 28, at the Super 8 Motel in Luling, along with two other people who were each charged with aiding in Rougeau’s escape, according to Capt. Patrick Yoes.
Rougeau was apprehended early Sunday, along with Joseph Furno, 22, and Melissa J. Guidry, 29, both of Pineville.
Rougeau had been working at Avondale Shipyard. He was dropped off for work Saturday morning. However, when he was due to be picked up at 6 p.m., he was absent.
Rougeau had been due for release in January 2005, but now faces simple escape charges and has since been returned to Lafourche Parish.
Both Furno and Guidry have posted bond and been released.
A $5,000 bond had been set on each, and each posted $250 and a personal surety for the remainder, according to authorities.
