A rare occurrence will happen Friday night. That is because no River Parish team will be playing against another River Parish team. Some teams are still drying off from last Friday night’s horrible weather conditions, while others would like to forget their game altogether. In District 6-5A action, Destrehan will host South Lafourche, Hahnville puts its 21-game winning streak on the line when they play Central Lafourche and East St. John will travel to Bourg to play Ellender at South Terrebonne. District 10-3A action will see E.D White travel to Lutcher and Donaldsonville plays St. James. In 10-2A, Riverside Academy travels to Buras and West St. John goes to St. Martin’s. Non-district action will see Assumption play St. Charles Catholic. Here is a look at week seven here in the River Parishes.

Assumption versus St. Charles Catholic

The Comets will step out of district this week when they host Assumption at Dupuy Stadium. SCC is coming off a 10-0 victory over St. James in the 10-3A opener last Friday. Comets quarterback Jesse Martin was responsible for the game’s only touchdown. He unleashed a 58-yard touchdown pass to Matt Sutton with 6:12 remaining in the first quarter.

Assumption (0-6) is coming off a 35-7 loss to Woodlawn last Friday in Napoleonville. About the only thing that caught fire at Mustang Stadium was an electrical fire box that caught fire on the visitors side of the field. Assumption’s offense struggled, gaining 133 yards on 45 plays.

In 2003, the Comets lost a thrilling 26-21 game in Napoleonville.

Comets running back Tyrell Fenroy is the second leading rusher in the River Parishes behind West St. John’s Patrick Jackson.

Kickoff is set for 7PM at Dupuy Stadium.

Riverside Academy versus Buras

The Riverside Academy Rebels had one of the most productive offenses last week in the River Parishes, despite horrible conditions.

Running back Jared Caesar led the Rebels ground game with a 125-yard rushing effort in a 42-18 trouncing of Redeemer-Seton.
