BECNEL

VACHERIE – Onezime Joseph “Nip” Becnel, 71, a native and resident of Vacherie, died Aug. 27. He was the husband of the late Pamela Granier Becnel, and father of Maureen Rome, Ellen Folse, Melissa Cazenave and Keith Becnel.

He was also the son of the late John Sr. and Elodie Ocmand Becnel, and brother of Madeline Oubre, Agnes Oubre, Mary Matherne, Maria Percle, Elaine Naquin, Roselyn Arcement, Robert and John Becnel Jr., and the late Marjorie Chapaton and Susan Becnel.

He is also survived by nine grandchildren. He is preceded in death by one grandchild.

He was a U.S. Army veteran and an insulation supervisor for Avondale Shipyard.

Services were Aug. 30 at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, with interment at the church mausoleum.

FENDERSON

LIONS – Barbara Tyler Fenderson, 57, a native of Reserve and resident of LaPlace, died Aug. 26. She was the wife of Charlie Fenderson.

She is also survived by sisters and brothers.

Services were Aug. 31 at Zion Travelers Baptist Church, Lions, with interment at the church cemetery, Lions.

JOHNSON

EDGARD – David Bruce Johnson, 55, a native and resident of Edgard, died Aug. 26. He was the husband of Carolyn Lumar Johnson and father of Chanell Jackson, Rico Lamar, Devria and Toni Johnson.

He was also the son of Alma Savoie Johnson, and the late Bartholomew Johnson Sr., and brother of Temple, Cornel and Bartholomew Johnson Jr.

He is also survived by seven grandchildren.

Services are today at 11 a.m., at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Edgard, with interment at the church cemetery. Visitation starts at 9 a.m.

JOHNSON

RESERVE – Robert Johnson Sr., 71, a native of Reserve and resident of Marrero, died Aug. 8. He was the husband of the late Cecile Ellis, and father of Nola Legeaux, Robert J r., Roderick, John Paul Johnson, Ruby Laphand, Dolores Collins, Bernadette Cage, Rosalee Williams, Janet Sam, Kathleen Parnell, Wendy Stevens, Andrea Boudreaux and Audrey Head.

He was also the son of the late Eugene and Annie Bell Johnson, and brother of Mattie Johnson, Hattie Rodhen and Gladys Jackson.

He is also survived by 50 grandchildren and 51 great-grandchildren.

Services were Aug. 14 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church gymnasium, Reserve, with interment at St. Michael Cemetery, Convent.

MADDEN

LAPLACE – Linda Madden, 48, a native and resident of LaPlace, died Aug. 11. She was the mother of Wayne and Jason Matherne.

She was also the daughter of Marie Catoire and Octave Oubre.

She is also survived by two grandchildren.

Services were Aug. 16 at Milesville Church of God in Christ, LaPlace, with private interment.

MAURIN

LAPLACE – Marion “Junior” Maurin Jr., 39, a native and resident of LaPlace, died Aug. 26. He was the son of Marion “Poose” Maurin, and the late Yvonne LaBiche Maurin.

Services were Aug. 29 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, LaPlace, with interment at St. Peter Cemetery, Reserve.

MITCHELL

LAPLACE – Gertrude L. Mitchell, 87, a native of Plaucheville and resident of LaPlace, died Aug. 26. She was the wife of the late Lance Joseph Mitchell, and mother of Jacqueline Robert and Ernest Mitchell, and the late Raymond Mitchell.

She was also the daughter of the late Placide and Irene Bonette Lemoine, and sister of the late Neil Mejia, Verdie Voisell, Henry, paul, Lester and Eddie Lemoine.

She is also survived by eight grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Services were Aug. 30 at Ascension of Our Lord Catholic Church, LaPlace, with interment at St. Patrick No. 3 Cemetery, New Orleans.

NORMAND

LAPLACE – Betty Jane Normand, 75, a native of Marksville and resident of LaPlace for 21 years, died Aug. 26. She was the mother of Lisa, Adrienne, Renee, Esther, Valle, Diane, Dale, Rae and Brien Normand.

She is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and nine great-great-grandchildren.

Services were Aug. 30 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, LaPlace, with interment at St. John Memorial Gardens, LaPlace.

PERRILLOUX

RESERVE – Margaret Clement Perrilloux, 75, a native and resident of Reserve, died Aug. 25. She was the wife of Anderson Perrilloux Sr. and mother of Joyce Houston, Lois Clark, Rose Mary Pidgeon, Alvin, Willie and Donald Ray Clement, and the late Harriet Banks, Doris Jones, Joseph Jr. and Ruth Clement.

She is also survived by 18 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by one grandchild.

Services were Aug. 30 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Reserve, with interment at St. Peter Cemetery, Reserve.

SCHNYDER

RESERVE – Ronald “White Boy” Schnyder, 51, a native of Reserve and resident of LaPlace, died Aug. 18. He was the son of the late Pierre and Edna Roussell Schnyder, and brother of Evangeline Johnson, Margorie Finks, Nicholas, Gregory and Paul Schnyder Sr., and the late Catherine, Leo, Allen and Peter Schnyder.

Services were Aug. 21 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Reserve, with interment at St. Peter Cemetery.

SMITH

LAPLACE – Robin Ann “Peazy” Smith, 43, a native and resident of LaPlace, died Aug. 7. She was the mother of Holly Ann Green, Tiffany Smith and Catessa Warren.

She was also the daughter of Isabelle Howard Gerard, and the late Earl Gerard Sr., and sister of Apostle Earl Gerard III, Geraldine, Michael, John, Gary, Rachel and Troy Gerard, Lurline Warren, Joleane, Audrey Head and Sadie Taylor.

She is also survived by five grandchildren.

Services were Aug. 14 at Spirit of Liberty Full Gospel Church, LaPlace, with interment at Providence Cemetery, LaPlace.
