Chamber sets forum for parish presidents

LUTCHER – The River Region Chamber of Commerce plans two functions in coming weeks of interest to the business community, including a parish presidents forum and an education summit.
The Chamber will host St. John Parish President Nickie Monica, St. James Parish President Dale Hymel Jr. and St. Charles Parish President Albert Laque on May 26 at the St. James School Board public relations building, adjoining the school board office, starting at 11 a.m.
The program includes a half-hour networking session, followed by luncheon and the noon program.
The event is open both to Chamber members and non-members as well.
Early registration is suggested, as deadline for registration is May 24 and seating is limited. The fee is $15 for Chamber members and $20 for non-Chamber attendees.
Also coming is the Chamber’s first education summit, scheduled June 9, at which event the School-to-Career coordinators for each parish will make presentations.
The event is set at La Maison Magnolia reception hall, 950 First St., in Norco. It includes an 11 a.m. networking session prior to the 11:30 a.m. buffet luncheon and the presentations, which start at 12:15 p.m.
Making presentations will be St. Charles coordinator Susan Boudreaux, St. John coordinator Beverly Harris and St. James coordinator Nolan Albert.
The program registration fees are $20 for Chamber members and $25 for non-members. Registration deadline is June 7. For more information on each event, call the events coordinator at (504) 465-6059.
