ST. ROSE – The Family Dollar store on River Road in St. Rose was reported robbed by a man armed with a steak knife.

According to Capt. Patrick Yoes of the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office, the robber entered the store Saturday and demanded cash from the register.

After a brief struggle with the cashier, the cashier finally opened the register and the robber snatched a handful of cash and fled the scene.

The store is located at 10982 River Road.

Yoes said the robber was described as 5-feet-3-inches tall, approximately 140 pounds, and dressed in a black shirt and white shorts, with a red bandanna over his hair and a white towel masking his face.

The 47-year-old female cashier struggled at first for possession of the knife, Yoes said, but the robber regzined control and forced her to open the cash register.

When it was opened, he snatched the entire cash drawer and fled the scene in an unknown direction.

The cashier was unhurt.
