Congratulations to all the high school graduated of the River Parishes! my best wishes to you are for a happy, healthy and successful future. Many of you will choose to enter the work force immediately, while others will pursue to further their education by attending college.

Let me remind you that we live in a free country, where success is guaranteed if you are willing to pay the price. May I suggest that you accepted your new responsibility with enthusiasm and a desire to be the person God created you to be. Always be reminded that one thing which can destroy your ambition and will to achieve it the abuse of illegal drugs and alcohol.

We often hear the word “success.” What actually is success? The best definition that I’ve ever heard is: being in God’s will for your life. The key to success is very simple- put God first in your life, your family second and your job or career third.

My challenge to all the graduates is to make this world a better place because of your presence. Don’t be overwhelmed with all of today’s problems. Be determined to make a mark as you journey through this life. Many people easily become discouraged and do nothing. Don’t fall into that category. Be different. Dare to dream and then to work to make your dreams come true.

Every person was created to do great things for the glory of God. We all have a desire to be great, but most people forget that the secret to greatness is humility. Be humble as you travel this life and look for opportunities to be of service. That’s right! Be a servant! The Bible says that to be great among many, we have to be a servant to all. Sounds like a tough challenge? You bet, but anyone who ever achieves greatness is usually faced with many difficult challenges.

Finally, graduates, may your lives be filled with much joy, plenty of love and a peace, regardless of the situation, that only God can give.

Have a great, productive life!
