St. John
BANKS
KENNER – Pearl Bryant Banks, 80, a native of Houston and resident of LaPlace for 12 years, died April 4.
She was the wife of the late Alex Banks and mother of the late Edna Banks.
She was also the sister of Edith Burns.
She is also survived by two grandchildren.
She was a retired domestic worker.
Services were April 13 at Little Zion Baptist Church, Kenner, with interment at Love and Charity Cemetery, Kenner.
BARRIOS
HAMMOND – Jason Rene’ Barrios, 31, a native and resident of Hammond, died April 8. He was the husband of Barbrena Authement Barrios and father of Alex Barrios.
He was also the son of Gloria Brooks Barrios and Raymond Barrios Jr., stepson of Laura Barrios and brother of Bridget and Troy Barrios.
He was also the grandchild of Aima Barrios Cheramie of Convent, and the late Raymond Barrios Sr., Jimmy and Josephine Alfonso Brooks.
Services were April 13 at Holy Ghost Catholic Church, Hammond, with interment at Rose Memorial Park Cemetery, Hammond.
DOREST
VACHERIE – Alfred “Al” “Moose” Dorest Sr., 66, a native of Vacherie and resident of Belle Rose, Mo. for 24 years, died April 3. He was the former husband of the late Rosemary Greene Dorest Hunt, and father of Michelle Dorest-Doucette, Trellis, Kim, Alfred Jr. and Oje Dorest.
He was also the son of the late Leonard and Isabelle Dorest, and brother of Cleo Williams, Bonita Young, Wanda Boudreaux, Jana Dorest, Desiree Dorest, Gilbert Sr. and Hamilton Dorest.
He is also survived by three grandchildren.
He was a self-employed landscaper.
Services were April 13 at St. Philip Catholic Church, Vacherie, with interment at the church cemetery.
SMITH
ST. ROSE – Rydell “Rocky” Smith, 44, a native of St. Rose and resident of Las Vegas for nine years, died April 10. He was the son of Joseph Smith and Merline Smith Johnson and brother of Dollinda Scott, Oriann Holmes, Priscilla Brumfield, Patrice Smith, Gloria Caesar, Nadine Shepherd, Valarie Clegget, Algela Cloud, Mutana Jones, Stacey Smith, Leonard Johnson, Sheridon, Leonard and Percy Smith.
He attended Destrehan High School and was an assistant chef at Mr. Lucky Cafe.
Services were April 12 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, St. Rose, with interment at Jefferson Memorial Park, St. Rose.
TICKLE
METAIRIE – Leslie Tickle, 82, a resident of Metairie, died April 7. He was the brother of Dorthy Lee of Garyville.
Services were April 13 at Oakland Baptist Church, Metairie, with interment at Zion Travelers Cemetery, Lions.
WINCHESTER
ST. JAMES – John Rolin Winchester Jr., 56, a native of St. James and resident of Donaldsonville, died April 5. He was the husband of Ida Mae Miles Winchester and father of Shawn Winchester.
He was also the son of John Sr. And Ethel Winchester and brother of Alvin, Cornell, Stanley, Bernard, Ronnie, Lloyd, Donald, Debra and Beverly Winchester.
He is also survived by one grandchild.
Services were April 12 at St. James Catholic Church, St. James, with interment at the church cemetery.
