TAFT – A Patterson man died Wednesday when a container load of dirt shifted and fell on him, crushing him.

Darrin Guidry, 38, of 107 Olive Lane in Patterson, was working for Omega Waste Mangement in Patterson, when he was offloading dirt at a location along Louisiana Highway 3142, near Louisiana Power and Light’s Gate 474 at 10:30 a.m.

Jessie Percle, of Acadian International Gas Co., was watching the offloading. He warned Guidry the load was shifting.

However, the container rolled off the trailer and crushed Guidry.

He was extracted by members of the Hahnville Volunteer Fire Department and pronounced dead at 11:40 a.m. by Nancy Pollard of the St. Charles Parish Coroner’s Office.

Early reports suggested the accident took place at Dow-St. Charles Operations, but
