LUTCHER – If the Riverside Academy Rebels swing the bat the bat the way they did Saturday against Lutcher, they will have a very successful season.

The Rebels pounded out 11 runs on 12 hits in a 11-6 defeat of Lutcher Saturday.

Josh Labiche led the way with a home run and five RBI’s.

Jordan Remondet picked up the victory for the Rebels, giving up five hits through six innings.

Trailing 1-0 in the top of the second, the Rebels tied the game when AJ Delaneuville scored on a base hit off the bat of Wes Hotard. Delaneuville led off the inning with a single and advanced to second on a Lutcher throwing error.

The Bulldogs took the lead in the bottom of the third. Matt Roussel started things off with a single and then scored on a triple courtesy of Jordie Perrilloux. A sacrifice fly by Mitchell Summers scored Perrilloux from third base. However, with two outs in the inning Cody Hoover struck out with runners on first and second.

Riverside managed to get nine runs over the next three innings.

In the top of the fourth, Chris Reeves singled and moved to second on a walk to Delaneuville. Labiche, a shortstop, slammed a three-run blast to give Riverside a 4-3 lead.

Lutcher responded with a run of their own in the fourth. After a walk to Matt Louque, lead-off hitter Ricky Guidry got hit by the pitch, advancing Louque to second. After an error from Remdondet, Roussel hit a sacrifice fly that scored Louque from third base.

Two more runs in the fifth gave the Rebels a comfortable 6-4 lead.

The top of the sixth was the most productive inning for the Lady Rebels.

With runners on first and second, Jordan Poirrier smashed a double that scored Lee Haydel and Cavin Richmond.

A double from Delaneuville scored two more runs for RA.

Heading into the bottom of the sixth, the Rebels held a commanding 10-5 lead.

After Louque struck out to start off the bottom of the sixth, pinch-hitter Blake Louque got to first on an error and advanced to second on a single from Roussel. Guidry then scored when Perrilloux grounded out to third.

With one out in the bottom of the seventh, the bases were loaded when Blake Louque hit a sacrifice fly that scored Ricky Waguespack from third.

Top hitters for Riverside included: Labiche (2-4, 5RBI’s) Delaneuville (3-4, 3 runs scored) and Haydel (3-4, 1 RBI).

Riverside returns to action Friday when they host a tournament.
