St. John
BRADLEY
DESTREHAN – Margaret Landry Bradley, 85, a native of New Iberia, former resident of Good Hope, Edgard and New Orleans, and resident of Metairie for four years, died Feb. 11. She the wife of the late Judge C. William Bradley, and mother of C. Wm. Bradley Jr., Bridget Meagher, Hugh A. Meagher, Margaret Hartnett and Adrian Henry.
She was also the daughter of the late Dr. Paul and Willie Burton Landry, and sister of Paul Jr. and Albert Landry, and the late Jeanette and Dr. William Landry.
She is also survived by two grandchildren.
Memorial services were Feb. 16 at St. Charles Borremo Catholic Church, Destrehan.
BURGUIERNES
DESTREHAN – Elodie Marie Burguieres, 93, a resident of Destrehan, died Feb. 13. She was the wife of the late Jules Burguieres, and mother of Barbara Mire, Dolores LeBlanc, Patricia Fernandez, Gail Cambre, Josie Moreau and Elodie Bourguieresm and the late Peggy Baudoin
She was also the sister of Mytle Parks, Annette Cognevich, Gloria Talbot, Gertrude Bush, Theresa Robert, Russell and Willard Bergeron and the late Clothilde Cambre and Wilbert Bergeron.
She is also survived by 25 grandchildren, 50 great-grand children and 19 great-great-grandchildren.
Services were Feb. 16, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Destrehan, with interment at the church cemetery.
DEIDRICH
METAIRIE – Louise E. Deidrich, 85, a resident of LaPlace, died Feb. 15. She was the wife of the late Frederick Deldrich, and mother of Louise Berkowicz and Linda Hoffman.
She was also the daughter of the late Michael Sr. and Carrie Rubson Hemmerling, and the sister of Eleanor “Chico” Baudier and Michael Hemmerling Jr. She is preceded in death by five sisters and one brother. She is also survived by two grandchildren and six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
She was a member of First United Methodist Church, LaPlace.
Services were Feb. 16 at Jefferson Chapel of Tharp Sonthemier Tharp Funeral Home, Metairie, with private interment.
DICHARRY
LUTCHER – Lois Wegener Dicharry, 83, a native of Napoleon, Mo. and longtime resident of Lutcher, died Feb. 14. She was the wife of the late Gerald Dicharry Sr., and mother of Sharon Poche, Joe, Fred and Philip Dicharry.
She was also the daughter of the late August and Gertrude Meyer Wegener, and sister of Bernice Arensmeier, and the late Carl and Sterling Wegener, Mildred Kellogg, Esther and Hulda Wegener..
She is also survived by nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren
She was a retired nurse of St. James Parish Hospital.
Services were Feb. 17 in the chapel of Rose Lynn Chapel, Lutcher, with interment at St. Joseph Mausoleum, Paulina.
DIGGS
BOUTTE – Beulah Thomas Diggs, 75, a native of New Orleans and resident of Boutte, died Feb. 9. She was the wife of Wilfred Diggs Sr. and mother of Elodie Celestine, Annabell Rose, George, Wilfred Jr. and Russel Diggs Sr.
She was also the sister of Eloise Colly, Junius Johnson Jr. and Earl Thomas Sr.
She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Services were Feb. 14 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Boutte, with interment at St. Mary Cemetery, Boutte.
DUFRENE
DES ALLEMANDS – Marguerite Brandt Dufrene, 99, a native of Alliance Plantation in Plaquemines Parish and resident of Des Allemands, died Feb. 13. She was the wife of the late Johnny Dufrene, and mother of Gwendolyn Morel and Brandt Dufrene.
She was also the daughter of the late Alex and Ethel Conrad Brandt, and sister of Emma Lou Elston, and the late Ruby Reynolds, Doris Cognevich, Gladys Becnel, Ida-Ding Treuil, Hewitt “Bud” and Saxon Brandt.
She is also survived by five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was a retired schoolteacher and principal in the St. Charles Parish School District. She was a 1922 graduate of St. Mary’s Dominican High School and of the State Normal School in Natchitoches and passed her state teaching exam at the age of 17.
She attended and graduated from Tulane University while she was teaching elementary school in St. Charles Parish. Dufrene taught in a one-room schoolroom in Comardelle Village and spent more than 44 years as a teacher and principal of Des Allemands Elementary School.
She received the Order of St. Louis Medallion, along with her husband, from the Archdiocese of New Orleans in 1985.
Services were Feb. 16 at St. Gertrude Catholic Church, Des Allemands, with interment at the church mausoleum.
GARY
METAIRIE – Eve Marie “Nanny” Gary, 84, a native of Destrehan and resident of New Orleans for 50 years, died Feb. 13. She was the mother of Leland Gary Jr.
She was also the sister of Maude Kreager and Marie Jeansonne.
She is also survived by four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Memorial services are today at noon in the chapel of Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, Metairie, with interment at St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery, Destrehan.
LABAT
LAPLACE – Noelie Vicknair Labat, 90, a native and resident of LaPlace, died Feb. 15. She was the mother of James Labat, and the late Jerry Ann Lococo and Elaine Dubroc.
She was also the daughter of the late Abraham and Eve Vicknair, and preceded in death by two sisters and four brothers.
She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Services were Feb. 17 in the chapel of Millet-Guidry Funeral Home, LaPlace, with interment at St. Peter Cemetery, Reserve.
LOUQUE
PAULINA – Roy Joseph “T-Boo” Louque, 64, a native and resident of Grand Point, died Feb. 14. He was the husband of Evelyn Schissel Rodriguez Louque, father of Ramona Blank and stepfather of Michelle Gautreaux, Trudy Denoux and Dawson Rodriquez Jr.
He was also the son of the late Ernest Jr. And Delta St. Pierre Louque, and brother of Betty Doming, Shelia Piper, Catherine and Ralph Louque.
He is also survived by two grandchildren and eight step-grandchildren.
He was a truck driver for 30 years and a U.S. Army veteran.
Services were Feb. 15 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Paulina, with interment at the church mausoleum.
NEWCOMB
LAPLACE – Freida Rome Walker Newcomb, 81, a native of Vacherie and resident of LaPlace for 78 years, died Feb. 13. She was the wife by first marriage of the late John P. Walker Sr. and by second marriage of the late Jessie Newcomb, and mother of John P. and Karl Walker, and Debora Frita. She is also survived by five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She is preceded in death by one great-grandchild.
She was also the daughter of the late Jean and Elucia Mury Rome, and sister of Lisa Crabtree, Ann Seizer, Thomas Ignece, Jean Jr. and Russell Rome, and the late Amy Ocmond, Emelia, Eddie, Clincy, Sterling and Edward Rome
Services were Feb. 15 at First Baptist Church, LaPlace, with interment at St. John Memorial Gardens, LaPlace.
NICHOLSON
LAPLACE – Myrtle Ann Nicholson, 63, a native and resident of Reserve, died Feb., 12. She was the wife of the late Roy Nicholson Sr., and mother of Tammy Robertson, Albert, Timothy, Roy Jr., Lisa, Louise and Melissa Nicholson.
She was also the daughter of the late Conelly and Celeste Jackson Misell, and the sister of Fannie C. and Harrison Mizell, and the late Conelly, Ronald, Percy, George and Gerald Mizell.
She is also survived by 20 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildre Services were Feb. 17 at New Wine Christian Fellowship, LaPlace.
OUBRE
GARYVILLE – Calogera “Clara” Navarre Oubre, 85, a native and resident of Garyville, died Feb. 13. She was the wife of the late Hubert Oubre Sr., and mother of Clair Zeringue, Penny Vicknair, Odile Ryan, Anna Weber, Andrea Matherne, Sharon Stewart, Coleman, Johnny, Danny and Hubert Oubre Jr.
She was also the sister of Marie Guidry, Frances Falgoust, and the late Catherine Oubre and Vita Monica.
She is also survived by 56 grandchildren and 49 great-grandchildren.
Services were Feb. 16 at St. Hubert Catholic Church, Garyville, with interment at St. Peter Cemetery, Reserve.
SHORTS
RIVER RIDGE – Annie Bradley Shorts, 58, a native of Bryan, Texas and resident of New Sarpy for 34 years, died Feb. 11. She was the mother of Renita, Cedric and the Rev. Ellis Shorts Jr.
She was also the sister of Carolyn Jones, Ruby Douglas and Annie Cook.
She is also survived by 10 grandchildren.
She was a retired St. Charles Parish school bus driver.
Services were Feb. 16 in the chapel of Richardson Funeral Home, River Ridge, with interment at Jefferson Memorial Gardens, St. Rose.
TRAMONTE
DESTREHAN – Stephen Lawrence Tramonte, 81, a native of Lutcher and resident of Destrehan for 46 years, died Feb. 11.
He was the husband of Ethel Schexnayder Tramonte and father of Andrea Palmer, Melanie Worrell, Byron, Jason, Wayne and Galen Tramonte.
He was also the brother of Sam and August Tramonte, and siblings Toay, Joseph, Vita, Felicie, Annie and Mary.
He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was retired from Shell Oil and was a former St. Charles Parish Constable. He was also a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II and active in the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion.
Services were Feb. 14 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Destrehan, with interment at the church mausoleum.
