United Way Bridge Run coming in April

United Way of St. Charles announced the date of Valero’s United Way Bridge Run 2004. On April 3, 2004, thousands of participants will again race (walk & stroll) across the Hale Boggs Bridge, the 8th year for this annual event.

Junior golfers to compete in shootout

LaPlace area junior golfers ages 11-18 are invited to compete in the Mardi Gras Shootout at The Lakes at Pelican Point in Gonzales on Saturday, Feb. 21 and Sunday, Feb. 22. The tournament is sponsored by the Arrowhead Junior Golf Tour and is ranked by the National Junior Golf Scoreboard. Registration deadline is Tuesday, Feb. 17 at 6 p.m. For more information call 850-650-9321.

Ten Star camp accepting

applications

Applications are now being evaluated for the Ten Star All-Star Summer Basketball Camp. The camp is by invitation only and is for boys and girls ages 10-19. Players from 50 states and 11 foreign countries attended the 2003 camp. College basketball scholarships are possible for players selected to the All-American Team. Riverside Academy to hold golf

The 13th annual Riverside Golf Tournament is scheduled for April 5, at Belle Terre Country Club. Tee times will be available for 32 groups beginning at 8 a.m. and for 36 groups at 1 p.m. There is a $100 donation required per golfer. Riverside is also in need of hole sponsors at $50 per sign. St. John Little League to hold registration

St. John Little League will hold registration for the 2004 season from 9a.m.-3 p.m. on February 7, 14, 21, 28 and March 6 at Winn-Dixie in LaPlace.

Boys and girls ages 5-18 who live in the St. John Little League boundaries are eligible to enroll to play either baseball or girls softball.
