River Pariahes Hospital to host health fair

River Parishes Hospital is having their annual health fair on hospital grounds on Saturday, October 18, 2003 from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. The purpose of this event is to promote good health in every area of life.

Free screenings will be conducted for asthma, colon cancer, skin cancer and varicose veins. There will also be a blood sugar screening but participants must fast for two hours before they are screened. Attendants can get their blood pressure checked, get a body fat analysis, find out their body mass index, take color blind tests, ear, nose and throat exams, have a foot inspection and much more. There will be professionals on hand to advise on how to get and stay healthy.

The K-9 Unit will be conducting a demonstration at 11 a.m. LaPlace Volunteer Fire Department is also performing a fire extinguisher demonstration at 1 p.m.

St. John Parish Sheriff’s Office will be conducting child fingerprinting and providing photo IDs.

Tri-Parish Medicaid Analysts will be on hand to answer questions and take applications for children, pregnant women and all others who qualify for the Louisiana Medicaid Insurance program.

There will also be a blood drive in suite 309 of the Doctor’s Plaza which is the building located directly in front of the hospital.

Face painting and a space walk will be there to entertain the kids, prizes will be given away and refreshments will be available as well. Enjoy Good Health and Good Fun with River Parishes Hospital at 500 Rue de Sante in LaPlace.
