AUBERT

ST. JAMES – Edgar Joseph Aubert Sr., 79, a native and resident of St. James, died Oct. 3. He was the husband of Celestine Steward Aubert and father of Debra Jeffery, Deonne McGuin, Mary, Timothy, Edgar Jr., Elton, Vaughn and Gerome Aubert, and the late Leslie Aubert Sr.

He was also the son of the late Symphorian and Beulah Rome Aubert, and brother of Doris Brown, Marie, Herbert, Herman, and the late Howard and Roland Aubert.

He is also survived by 23 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Services were Oct. 8 at St. James Catholic Church, St. James, with interment at the church cemetery.

BAILEY

LAPLACE – Victorine Avril Bailey, 90, a native of Vacherie and resident of LaPlace, died Oct. 4. She was the wife of the late Albert Bailey, and mother of Joseph, Ernest “Buddy,” Ferrel and Harold Bailey, and the late Ida Vice.

She was also the daughter of the late Gabriel and Ernestine Scioneaux Avril, and sister of the late Octavia Matherne, Felecia Hebert, Martha Day, Angele Hebert and Jeffery Avril.

She is also survived by 14 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

She worked at the St. Joan of Arc Thift Shop for 28 years.

Services were Oct. 8 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, LaPlace, with interment at St. Peter Cemetery, Reserve.

BREWSTER

BELLA VISTA, ARK. – Darwin Lee Brewster, 91, a native of Lockney, Texas, and resident of Henderson, Texas, died Oct. 2. He was the husband of 57 years of Virginia Brewster and father of Jacqueline Brewster of LaPlace and Charlene Brewster of Henderson.

He was also the brother of Rena Jo Gallo, Bill and Jimmy Brewster.

He is also survived by seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II as technical engineer and gunner on a b-24. He earned the Distinguished Service Cross with two Oak Leaf Clusters and a Certificate of Valor for 50 bombing missions over Europe.

He was a cattleman and farmer who in 1950 produced the first bale of cotton in Culberton County, Texas.

Memorial services were Oct. 4, with interment with military honors at Bella Vista Memorial Gardens.

CANNON

EDGARD – Oscar Mercier Cannon, 80, a native and resident of Lucy, died Oct. 5. He was the husband of Shirley Mathieu Cannon and father of Darleen Davie, Mary Ann Jourdain, Lonnie and Brent Cannon.

He was also the brother of Lorraine Lorio, Theresa, Theodore and Loresta Cannon.

He is also survived by eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was a retired painter at Avondale Shipyard.

Services were Oct. 9 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Edgard, with interment at the church cemetery.

JEFFERY

VACHERIE – Florence Steib Jeffery, 88, a native and resident of Vacherie, died Oct. 2. She was the wife of Webster Jeffery Sr. and mother of Mary Harris, Linda Legeaux, Stanford Sr. and Webster Jeffery Jr., and the late Morris Jeffery.

She was also the daughter of the late Silvester and Amy Oubre Steib, and sister of Emma Narcisse, Marina Saul, Amy Saul, Clifford, Pierre and Sylvester Steib, and the late Luverda Gross, Floretta Dumas, Louana Lemieux, Florian, Nelson, Calvin and Hilton Steib Sr.

She is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

Services were Oct. 10 at St. Phillip Catholic Church, Vacherie, with interment at Our Lady of Peace Mausoleum, South Vacherie.

LOCASCIO

COLUMBIA – Josie W. Locascio, 71, a native of Mobile, Ala., and resident of Destrehan for nine years, died Oct. 5. She was the wife of Nat Locascio and mother of Dianne Abadie, Cindy Duplantis, Bill McCain, Larry and Michael Locascio.

She was also the sister of Dorothy Birch, Carolyn Armstrong, Laura Juanico, Lillie Harvey, Elsie Dearman and Eddie Waits.

Services were Oct. 10 in the chapel of Colonial Funeral Home, Columbia, with interment at Foxworth Cemetery.

LOUIS

EDGARD – Viola Lumar “Mommie” Louis, 86, a native and resident of Edgard, died Oct. 6. She was wife of the late Nelson Louis Sr., and mother of Faye Gauthier, Jean Darensbourg, Donell Favorite, Norma, Nelson Jr., Brent and Spencer Louis, and the late Deanna Mitchell and Gary Louis.

She was also the daughter of the late Blaine and Norma Lumar, and sister of Julia Brown and Florence Williams, and the late Eva Bovie, Marguerite Lumar, Mobel Morris and Peter Lumar.

She is also survived by 24 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

Services were Oct. 10 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, with interment at the church cemetery.

STOVALL

LAPLACE – Mack “Big Mack” Stovall, 39, a native of New Orleans and resident of LaPlace, died Oct. 1. He was the husband of Debra T. Stovall and father of Dorian Thompson, Diana and Rayon Stovall.

He was also the son of Mack and Willie Mae Moore Stovall and brother of Brenda Sermersky and Kim Brooks.

Services were Oct. 8 at New Foundation for Life Full Gospel Baptist Church, LaPlace, with interment at Restlawn Park Cemetery, Avondale.
