ACOSTA
LAPLACE – Bertha Usey Acosta, 85, a native of Bar-ton, former resident of Norco and resident of LaPlace, died Feb. 27.
She was the wife of the late Frank Acosta and mother of Janet Duhe, Lily Galland and Donald Acosta.
She was also the sister of Harding Usey, Leroy and Lydia LeBlanc and the late Lester Usey.
She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Services were March 1 at Millet-Guidry Funeral Home, LaPlace, with interment at St. Charles Borromeo Cem-etery, Destrehan.
COADY
METAIRIE – Mary “Tina” Coady, 57, a native of Seattle, Wash., and resident of Kenner for 20 years, died Feb. 27. She was the daughter of the late Roy and Mary E. Coady and sister of Margaret Latiolais, Maureen Strain, Judge Martin Coady and the late Barbara Jane Coady.
She was a special education teacher at Destrehan High School for many years, where she also was coach of the year in girls’ track and won numerous district track titles, special-education di-rector and athletic director and initiated the school horticultural program.
Services were March 3 in the chapel of Lake Lawn Funeral Home, Metairie, with interment at Metairie Cemetery.
DUHON
GRAMERCY – Elodie “Dee” Bourgeois Duhon, 89, a resident of Gramercy, died Feb. 28. She was the wife of the late Lloyd Duhon Sr. and mother of Yvonne Bourgeois and the late Lloyd Duhon Jr.
She was also the daughter of the late Richard and Alosia Bourgeois and sister of Elise Be Deroche and the late Emile Bourgeois.
She is also survived by five grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren and was preceded in death by one grandchild and one great-grandchild.
Services were March 3 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Gramercy, with interment at St. Joseph Mausoleum, Paulina.
FERDINAND
NEW ORLEANS – Roy Anthony Ferdinand Sr., 92, a native of St. James Parish and resident of New Orlenas for 70 years, died Feb. 28. He was the father of Faye Powell, Roy Verret and Michele, Gwendolyn and Roy Ferdinand Jr. He was also the companion of Ber-nadine Bush.
He was the son of the late Helen and Lois Ferdinand and was preceded in death by six brothers and sisters.
He is also survived by five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
He was a retired maintenance engineer at Kehoe France School and Daycare.
Services were March 3 in the chapel of McMahon-Coburn-Briede Funeral Home, New Orleans, with interment at Restlawn Cem-etery.
FRILOUX
DESTREHAN – Moise D. Friloux, 78, a native of Ama and resident of New Sarpy for 50 years, died Feb. 25. He was the husband of Vivian Perilloux Friloux and father of Frances Mire, Lisa Madere and Gerard and Kim Friloux.
He was also the son of the late Rene and Louise Roux Friloux and brother of Theresa “Bunny” Petit, Ann Zeringue and Timmy and the late Albert and Harold Friloux.
He is also survived by nine grandchildren.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and retired from Norco Construction Company.
Services were March 1 at St. Charles Borromeo Cath-olic Church, with interment at the church mausoleum.
JOHNSON
ST. JAMES – Eddie J. Johnson Sr., 81, a native and resident of St. James, died Feb. 22. He was the husband of the late Elvie Washington Johnson and father of Beulah Fisher, Annette Brown, Marie Fathree, Mary Jane Stripling, Mary Pakoejoe, Nathleen Harleaux, Catherine Whit-tington, Helen, Raymond and Ann, Nathaniel, Andrew, Lester, Paul, Anthony and the late Eddie Jr., Leroy and Junius Johnson.
He was also the brother of the late Olevia Joseph, Josephine Favorite, Liege Bergeron and Edward Johnson.
KAISER
NORCO – Brian A. Kaiser, 80, a native of Faribalt, Minn., and resident of Norco, died Feb. 26. He was the husband of the late Lois Mc-Murry Kaiser, and father of Sharon Mapes and Steve, Ken and Patrick Kaiser.
He was also the son of the late Arthur and Jenny O’Brien Kaiser.
He is also survived by nine grandchildren.
He was a graduate of Loyola University, U.S. Coast Guard veteran of World War II and retired from Shell Oil after 38 years.
Services were March 1 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Norco, with interment at St. Charles Borromeo mausoleum.
KLIEBERT
PAULINA – Gertrude “Gert” Kliebert, 86, a native and resident of Paulina, died March 1. She was the daughter of the late Leon and Elvina Bourgeois Kliebert and sister of Rose Ballay, Allen, Leon Jr., Otis, Garland and Buhel Kliebert and the late Eunice Lucia and Velma and Amy Kliebert.
Services were March 4 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Paulina, with interment at the church cemetery.
PORCHE
GRAMERCY – Florette “Flo” Faucheux Porche, 94, a native of Gramercy and resident of Thibodaux, died Feb. 27. She was the wife of the late Albion Porche.
She was also the daughter of the late Alonzo Sr. and Aimee Bourgeois Faucheux and sister of Alonzo Faucheux Jr.
She is also survived by nine nieces and nephews, 32 grandnieces and grandnephews, 70 great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews and seven great-great-grandnieces and great-great-grandnephews.
She was a graduate of Maryville University, organized the Lutcher High School library, served 10 years as Thibodaux High School librarian and worked 14 years for the Lafourche Parish Library, the last 10 as head librarian.
Services were March 1 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Gramercy, with in-terment at St. Joseph Cem-etery, Paulina.
SIMS
PAULINA – Amelia Grows Sims, 82, a native of Wallace and resident of Garyville, died Feb. 20. She was the wife of the late Sidney Sims and adopted mother of Gloria Sheila Preston, Gilda Johnson and Elaine and Wayne Joseph.
She is also survived by a host of grand and great-grandchildren.
Memorial services were March 1 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Paul-ina, with private interment.
WAGUESPACK
BATON ROUGE – Haydee Marie Lousteau Waguespack, 91, a native of Killona and resident of Baton Rouge, died March 1. She was the wife of the late Lezin Wa-guespack and mother of Sister Johnette Marie, Geral-dine Rizzuto, Dorothy Mer-ritt and Richard, Larry, Ray and Sidney Waguespack.
She was also the sister of Etienne Lousteau and the late Emillia Tregre, Corrine Haydel, Pauline Landeche, Sister Joan of Arc, Sister Mary Cecilia, Sister Mary Zita and Albert, Charles, Icar and Edmond Lousteau.
She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren and was preceded in death by one grandchild.
Services were March 3 at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church with interment at Greenoaks Memorial Park.
WILLIAMS
RIVER RIDGE – Alice McGary Williams, 77, a native of Robert and resident of St. Rose, died Feb. 27. She was the mother of Charles “C.J.” McGary and Zebedee Cockerham Jr.
She was the sister of Nor-ma Jean Alexander, Flo-rence Baptiste and Calvin McGary.
She is also survived by six grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Services were March 3 in the chapel of Richardson Funeral Home, River Ridge, with interment at Jefferson Memorial Gardens, St. Rose.
