GRAY

NORCO – Albert Gray Sr., 82, a native of Montz and resident of Norco, died Jan. 29. He was the husband of the late Albertine Gray, and father of Gezel McGill, Marvel Bennett, Albert Jr., Patrick, Kerry Sr. and David Gray.

He was also the son of the late Nelson Sr. and Violet Marshall Gray, and brother of Nelson Gray Jr.

He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Services were Feb. 6 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Norco, with interment at St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery, Des-trehan.

JACKSON

HAHNVILLE – Bertrand Jackson, 72, a native and resident of Killona, died Feb. 2. He was the companion of Beaulah Toney, father of Mary Walker, Shirley and Bertrand Jupiter, Inette London, Burley Gilbert, Vanessa and Cornell Toney Sr., and the late Berthord Jupiter, and stepfather of Alvin Jupiter, Barbara Marshall, Ella Darensbourg, Veronica Isaac, Jacquelyn Pierre, Barbara White, Sheila, Warren and Leroy Toney

He was also the son of the late Priscilla Travis and Abraham Jackson, and brother of Deanna Williams, Joanna White, Marie Jupiter, Dorothy Washington and Bertha Thomas, and the late Georgiana Stipe, Hilda Cummings, Pearl Raymond, Effie Baloney and Roosevelt Jackson.

He is also survived by 48 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.

He was a retired construction worker and served as the “Father” of his church.

Services are today at 11 a.m. at Bethlehem Baptist Church, Hahnville, with interment at Green Hill Cemetery, Taft. Visitation starts at 10 a.m.

KERN

LULING – Allen John Kern, 54, a native of Bridge City and resident of Luling, died Feb. 5. He was the husband of Kathie Ann Rabalais Kern and father of Julie Kern.

He was also the son of the Melvin Kern, and the late Anna Chaisson Kern, and brother of Susan Verdin, Judy Toups and Ronald Kern.

Services were Feb. 7 at Holy Family Catholic Church, Luling, with interment at St. Charles Cemetery, Luling.

LOGARBO

PAULINA – Inez Pitre Logarbo, 84, a native of Lafourche Parish and resident of Gramercy, died Feb. 6. She was the wife of the late John Logarbo Sr., and mother of Shirley Oubre, Mary Wagues-pack, Marie Webre, Joseph and Ray Logarbo, and the late John Logarbo Jr.

She was also the daughter of the late Willie and Jo-sephine Thibodeaux Pitre, and sister of Anna Gautreaux and Adam Pitre. She is preceded in death by six sisters and two brothers.

She is also survived by 16 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

Services are Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Paulina, with interment at the church cemetery. Visitation is Sunday, 6-10 p.m. and Monday at 8 a.m.

MARTIN

NEW ORLEANS – Wilson Nicholas Martin 90, a native of Jeanerette and resident of LaPlace for 25 years, died Feb. 4. He was the father of Geraldine Donaho, Mary Ellen Edmonds, Wilson Jr. and John Martin.

He was also the brother of Thelma and Wilmer Martin.

He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was a retired bottler at Falstaff Brewery.

Services were Feb. 7 in the chapel of Jacob Schoen & Son Funeral Home, New Orleans, with interment at St. Roch Cemetery.

McGEE

RESERVE – Alma Rober-tson McGee, 76, a native and resident of Reserve, died Feb. 2. She was the wife of the late Clarence McGee, and mother of Anna Mae Griffith, Alberta Porter, Rose, John and Willie McGee, Clarence Sr., Edward and Albert “Red” Robertson.

She was also the daughter of the late Alberta Robertson.

She is also survived by 38 grandchildren, 63, great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Services are today at 11 a.m. at New Rescue Mission Baptist Church, Reserve, with interment at Zion Travelers Cemetery, Lions.

MILLET

NORCO – Christine Nichols Millet, a resident of Destre-han, died Feb. 3. She was the wife of 32 years of Arthur Millet and mother of Anne Marie Millet, and the late Thomas Johnston.

She was also the sister of Sybil Lander and Thomas Nichols, and the late Bertha Terrell, Alinie Dixion, Idell Verda, Anita “Billie” Manasco and Carl Nichols.

She is also survived by three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Services were Feb. 6 in the chapel of H.C. Alexander Funeral Home, Norco, with interment at Jefferson Memorial Gardens, St. Rose.

SMOTHERS

NEW SARPY – Gertrude Washington Smothers, 77, a native of New Orleans and resident of New Sarpy, died Feb. 1. She was the mother of Emily Emery, Elaine Carrere, Kathleen, David and Peter Smothers and Paul Caliste.

She was also the sister of Philip Washington Sr.

She is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Services were Feb. 7 at St. Matthew Baptist Church, New Sarpy, with interment at New Sarpy Cemetery.

VALLERY

PAULINA – Wallace Vallery, 59, a native of Convent and resident of New Orleans, died Feb. 3. He was the father of Paul Vallery and stepfather of Devron Deon.

He was also the son of the late John and Mable Stewart Vallery, and brother of Mary, Audrey, Erma, Dorothy, Tilda, Connie, Laura Ann, Ray-mond, Edmond, Leonard, Ronald and Neal Vallery, and the late Joseph, Alvin and Bernard Vallery.

Services are today at 11 a.m. at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Paulina, with interment at Antioch Cemetery, Paulina. Visitation starts at 9 a.m.

VIGNES

LAPLACE – Vernon J. Vignes, 73, a native of Mt. Airy and resident of LaPlace for 35 years, died Feb. 4. He was the son of the late Elizee and Anocia Millet Vignes, and brother of Eunice Simon and Roy Vignes.

He is also survived by nephews and nieces, Arleen Triche, Judy Heltz, Pamela Duhe, Bruce and Daniel Simon.

Services were Feb. 7 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, LaPlace, with interment at St. Peter Catholic Cemetery, Reserve.

WELCH

BURAS – Lena Mae Solis Welch, 74, a native of Garyville and resident of Buras, died Feb. 3. She was the wife of Jessie Hubert Welch and mother of Wendy Lou Clark.

She was also the daughter of the late Stephen and Leona Schexnayder Solis, and sister of Louise Cognevich, Sylvia Pierce, and the late Vivian Vial, Steve and David Solis.

She is also survived by one grandchild and one great-grandchild.

She was a member of American Legion Post 193 Auxiliary.

Services were Feb. 7 at Our Lady of Good Harbor Catholic Church, Buras, with interment at St. Patrick Cemetery, Port Sulphur.

WILSON

WEST MONROE – Laura Fern Wilson, 97, a native of Jonesboro, Ark., and resident of Metairie and LaPlace for the past two years, died Feb. 5. She was the mother of Dixie Ann Ramirez.

She was also the sister of Lois Sammons and Louise Pennington.

She is also survived by three grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Services are today at noon at Kilpatrick’s Funeral Home, West Monroe, with interment at Hasley Cemetery, West Monroe. Visitation starts at 9 a.m.
