BLAIN
ST. JAMES – Rogers Blain, 55, a native and resident of St. James, died Jan 14. He was the husband of Donna B. Blain and father of Latrice, Tramayne and Dontel Blain. He was the son of the late Tony Sr. and Enola Blain and brother of Catherine Emery, Vivian Edwards, Stella Charles, Debra Dennis, Marie, Gladys and Michael Blain Sr. and the late Rita Mae Costley and Tony Blain Jr.
Services are today at 11 a.m. at St. Luke Baptist Church, St. James, with interment at the church cemetery. Visitation starts at 9 a.m.
BRUMFIELD
MONTZ – Raydell T. Brumfield, 28, a native and resident of Montz, died Jan. 10. He was the son of Terry Gross and Shelia Brumfield-Byers and brother of Kiselar Brumfield-Thruson and Coeman Brumfield. He was the grandchild of the late Philonease Veronica Davis Brumfield and Delores Gross.
Services are today at noon at Providence Baptist Church No. 2, Montz, with interment at St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery.
CLARK
NEW ORLEANS – Larry Clark, 84, a native of Wallace and resident of New Orleans for 60 years, died Jan. 13. He was the husband of Mary B. Clark and father of Brenda Jones, Linda McBride and Deloris and Dallas Clark. He was the brother of Nathaniel and Stafford Clark.
He is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and retired from National Gypsum after 40 years.
Services are today at 10 a.m. at St. David Catholic Church, New Orleans, with interment at Mt. Olivet Mausoleum. Visitation starts at 8:30 a.m.
DELLA
MT. AIRY – James Della Sr., 61, a native of Reserve and resident of Houston, died Jan. 10. He was the companion of Lillie Peters, father of Michelle LeVigne and James Della Jr. and stepfather of Rodney, Gregory and Ollie Peters. He was the son of the late Oscar Sr. and Beatrice Johnson Della and brother of Rose Creecy, Audrey Mizelle, Carolyn Leon, Shanetta Brown and Anna, Wilfred Sr., Gloria, Connie, Oscar Jr. and Bartley Della.
Memorial services are today at 11 a.m. St. John the Baptist Church, Mt. Airy, with interment at Bethlehem Cemetery, Reserve. Visitation starts at 9 a.m.
FEFIE
ST. JAMES – Alonzo Peter “Papa” Fefie, 88, a native of Vacherie and resident of St. James, died Jan. 10. He was the husband of the late Beatrice Favorite Fefie and father of Doris Truehill, Theresa Zenon, Annette Spurlock, Marilyn Sutherland, Antoinette Simmons, Betty Jones and Mary, Rita, Odette, Cleveland and Joseph Fefie.
He was the son of the late Cornelius and Caroline Osborne Fefie. He is survived by 25 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren and was preceded in death by one grandchild.
He was a retired heavy equipment operator for St. James Parish and a member of the L’il Hat of Vacherie and Pride of Brookstown.
Services are today at 11 a.m. at St. James Catholic Church, with interment at the church mausoleum. Visitation starts at 9 a.m.
GREEN
PAULINA – Moses Green, 58, a native of Hester and resident of New Orleans for many years, died Jan. 1. He was the son of the late Jimmy and Mary Green and brother of Beatrice Bourgeois, Beaulah McQuater, James Morris, Eva Shuster and Jimmy Green Jr.
Services are today at 11 a.m. at Evergreen Baptist Church, Paulina, with interment at Antioch Cemetery. Visitation starts at 10 a.m.
HUBERT
EDGARD – Junius “Johnny Herbert” Hubert, 64, a native of Edgard and resident of Marrero, died Jan. 14. He was the husband of Marian G. Hubert and father of Trina Raymond and Anika, Keisha and Junisia Hubert. He was the son of Orena Gordon Hubert and the late John Hubert Sr. and brother of Gloria Grows, Shirley Orkes and Charles, Dinnel and the late Warren and Claudell Hubert.
He is also survived by seven grandchildren.
Services are today at 11 a.m. at Second African Baptist Church with interment at Young Cemetery, Edgard. Visitation starts at 9 a.m.
PRADIA
LAPLACE – Hardin Pradia, 81, a native of Brazilis, Texas, and resident of St. Rose, died Jan. 12. He was the father of Barbara Shepherd, Joanette Johnson and Wanda Alexander and stepfather of Sherry Howard and Lester Madere.
He was the brother of Rose Nell Malonsome, Mary Louise Pugh and Preston, Gilbert, Albert and Charles Pradia.
He is also survived by nine grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, 11 step-great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren and one step-great-great-grandchild.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran and a retired merchant mariner.
Services are today at 10 a.m. at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, LaPlace, with interment at Jefferson Memorial Gardens, St. Rose. Visitation starts at 9 a.m.
SIMMONS
RESERVE – Mose Simmons Sr., 67, a native of Convent and resident of Reserve for 34 years, died Jan. 13. He was the husband of Verlina Dickerson Simmons and father of the Rev. Carla Ceaser, Galyn Jones and Mose Jr. and Andre Simmons Sr.
He was the son of the late Nathaniel and Louiza Simmons and brother of Frances Howard, Alma Hayes, Preston Joseph Jr., Helen Simmons and Gloria Fields. He was also preceded in death by four sisters and four brothers.
He is also survived by 11 grandchildren.
He was a retired construction foreman at Boh Brothers Construction Co. and a deacon at Beechgrove Baptist Church, Reserve.
Services are today at noon at Beechgrove Baptist Church, Reserve, with interment at St. John Memorial Gardens, LaPlace.
Visitation starts at 9 a.m.
WAGUESPACK
NORCO – Rudolph A. “Rudy” Waguespack Sr., a native of Lutcher and resident of Norco for most of his life, died Jan. 13. He was the husband of 59 years of the late Enid Waguespack and father of Lydia Hardy and Rudolph “Andy” Waguespack Jr.
He was also the son of the late Maurice and Olive Hebert Waguespack and brother of the late Maurice, Lynn, Hebert and Mercedes Waguespack.
He is also survived by five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and active in the Knights of Columbus.
Services were Jan. 16 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Norco, with interment at St. Charles Borromeo Mausoleum, Destrehan.
YOUNG
DES ALLEMANDS – Earl Young Sr., 85, a native and resident of Des Allemands, died Jan. 13. He was the father of Mary Chaney, Verna Major and Rosalee, Earl Jr., Joshua and Donald Young.
He is also survived by 27 grandchildren, 56 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
He was a retired dragline operator and head deacon emeritus at Antioch Baptist Church.
Services are today at noon at Antioch Baptist Church, Des Allemands, with interment at Shell Mound Cemetery, Des Allemands.
