There were several outstanding River Parishes players who participated in the 2002 football season. The difficult process is picking which ones had solid years above others.

According to area high school coaches, these players earned a position on the 2002 L’Observateur All-River Parishes Football Team.

Offensive MVP: Fred Smith (Destrehan High School).

Quarterbacks: Demarko Hutchinson (Destrehan), Ryan Perrilloux (East St. John), Laron Landry (Hahnville High School), and Bryce Matherne (Lutcher High School).

Running Backs: Derron Thomas (East St. John High School), Jared St. Amant (Riverside Academy), Patrick Jackson (West St. John High School), Lionel Evans (Hahnville High School), and Tyrell Fenroy (St. Charles Catholic).

Wide Receivers: Dexter Falgoust (Riverside Academy), Fred Smith (Destrehan High School), Thomas Augusta (West St. John), Reggie Joseph (East St. John), and Gerard Landry (Lutcher High School).

Offensive line: Jacob Loupe (Hahnville High School), Adam Ayme (St. Charles Catholic High School), Kirk Brady (Riverside Academy), Lee Roussel (Lutcher High School), and Lance Gerard (East St. John High School).

Tight End: Jarrel Price (St. James High School) and Michael Dicharry (Lutcher High School).

Kicker: Alex Romero (Hahnville High School).

Defensive MVP: Chris Cancienne (St. Charles Catholic).

Defensive Line: Chris Cancienne (St. Charles Catholic), Vegas Franklin (East St. John), Kirtson Pittman (East St. John), Melvin Dumas (St. James High School), Darryl Richard (Destrehan High School), and Darryl Fortenberry (Riverside Academy).

Linebackers: Jeremy Moll (West St. John High School), Tyrone Madison (St. James High School), Jeremiah Johnson (St. Charles Catholic), and Donald Cage (Lutcher High School).

Defensive Backs: Laron Landry (Hahnville High School), Desi Steib (St. James High School), Dexter Falgoust (Riverside Academy), Josh Lumar (West St. John High School), and Jemarcus Smith (Destrehan High School).

Punter: Daniel Leblanc (St. Charles Catholic).

Coach of the year: Laury Dupont (West St. John High School).
