RESERVE – The Port of South Louisiana recently welcomed a delegation of port officials with TransinvestService (TIS), from the Odessa region of the Ukraine.

Company representatives visited the U.S. in search of port equipment suppliers and technical advice for its expanding bulk cargo operations. The research included tours of Cargill K-2 and IC RailMarine, in Convent, and IMC Agrico, in St. James, to observe machinery used in the manufacturing and storage process at each facility.

TIS currently operates two bulk terminals and primarily handles grain, ammonia, fertilizers, and various ores.

Two additional terminals for grain and coal are under construction and will require conveyor belts, silos, cranes, and other related cargo trans-loading equipment. The company is the only private Ukrainian port operator.

Port of South Louisiana Executive Director Joseph Accardo Jr., and staff hosted the group to a morning reception.
