ALBERT

VACHERIE – Roosevelt Albert, 68, a native and resident of Vacherie, died Nov. 16. He was the son of Mary Albert and the late Eugene Albert and brother of the late Mildred, George and James Albert.

He was a retired truck driver.

Services are today at 11 a.m. at Highway Baptist Church, Vacherie, with interment at Second Baptist Cemetery. Visitation starts at 9 a.m.

ANDERSON

RESERVE – Arthur Anderson, 72, a native of Garyville and resident of Reserve for 50 years, died Nov. 19. He was the husband of Claudia L. Anderson and father of Glenda Clark, Margie Robertson, Joyce Riley, Barbara Johnson, Lori Joseph and Melvin, Jimmy, Brenda and Lesa Anderson.

He was the son of the late John and Elizabeth Anderson and brother of Leona Wishom, Gladys Placide and Louella Anderson.

He is also survived by 21 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was a retired forklift operator for Godchaux-Henderson Sugar Refinery. He was also a court clerk for St. John the Baptist Parish and a member of the parish zoning board.

Services are today at noon at New Pilgrim Baptist Church, Reserve, with interment at Marathon Bishop Cemetery, Garyville. Visitation starts at 10 a.m.

CHAPPELL

MARRERO – Donald “T.C.” Wayne Chappell, 60, a native of Arley, Ala. and resident of Luling, died Nov. 18. He was the father of Stephanie Cuny and Courtney, Brian Sr. and Steven Chappell.

He was the son of Naomi Louise Cook Chappell and the late Jewel “Bull” E. Chappell and brother of Rex Chappell.

He is also survived by 10 grandchildren.

Services are today at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Westside/Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, Marrero, with private interment. Visitation starts at 10 a.m.

CLARK

AMA – Earl Joseph “Don King” Clark, 65, a native and resident of Ama, died Nov. 18. He was the husband of Joyce Stewart Clark and father of Joycelyn Ballard and Rendell Sr., Rudell and the late Earl and Darnell Clark.

He was the son of Lista Benarby Guilfore and the late Purnell Clark and brother of Doris Williams, Beverly Byrd and Ernest Patterson Sr.

He is also survived by eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He was a graduate of Carver High School in Hahnville and a retired foreman with St. Charles Grain Elevator.

Services are today at 11 a.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Ama, with interment at Mt. Pilgrim Cemetery, Ama. Visitation starts at 9 a.m.

COXIE

CONVENT – Richard Coxie, 72, a native and resident of Convent, died Nov. 18. He was the husband of the late Theresa Ann Coxie and father of Dianne Howard, Amanda Carter and Jeannie, Donald and Richard Coxie III.

He was the son of the late Toney Coxie and Rosie Lee Paul.

He is also survived by nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Services are today at 10 a.m. at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Convent, with interment at Zion Travelers Cemetery, Central. Visitation starts at 9 a.m.

DAY

LAPLACE – Walter N. Day, 96, a native of Chicago and 60-year resident of Norco, died Nov. 14. He was the husband of the late Lillie Anderson and0x father of Janice and Ray Day.

He was the brother of Winifred Kirk.

He graduated from the University of Illinois with a bachelor degree in chemistry and earned a master’s degree in chemistry from the University of Minnesota. He worked at Shell Oil Co. and its predecessors and at the Norco refinery from 1942 to 1966.

He was active in the Bonnet Carre Rod and Gun Club, Louisiana Wildlife Federation, Audubon Society, Ducks Unlimited and was a life member of the National Rifle Association since 1936.

He twice received the Louisiana Governor’s Award as State Conservationist of the Year and coordinated a statewide fund-raising program for Ducks Unlimited.

Memorial services were held Nov. 22 in the chapel of Millet-Guidry Funeral Home, LaPlace.

ERICKSON

AUBURN, Ala. – Gordon L. “Jim” Erickson, 81, a native of Merrillan, Wisc. and resident of Destrehan, died Nov. 18. He was the husband of 13 years of Anita Perret Erickson, by second marriage, and the late Margaret Erickson, by first marriage; and father of Nancy Revell, Patricia and Michael Erickson and Sid, Patricia, Harry and Steve Perret.

He is also survived by eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, a retired controller for Uniroyal Inc. in Opelika, Ala., and was also employed at Destrehan Hardware in Destrehan and True Value Hardware in Boutte.

Services were Nov. 22 at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Auburn, Ala., with interment at Garden Hills Cemetery.

JARROW

LAPLACE – Kendail Allen Jarrow Jr., 4 months old, a resident of Reserve, died Nov. 17. He was the son of Kakeria Francis and Kendail Jarrow Sr.

He was the grandchild of Wendall Lestrick Sr., Melissa Parquet, Doretha Weston and Allen Washington and stepgrandchild of Mildred Lestrick and Lizzie Washington.

Services were Nov. 21 at Milesville Memorial Church of God in Christ, LaPlace, with interment at Resthaven Cemetery, LaPlace.

JOLLEY

KENNER – Francis Allen Jolley, 58, a native of Homestead, Fla., and resident of Metairie and LaPlace for the past 26 years, died Nov. 10. He was the father of Karyn Jolley.

He was the brother of Pam Smith, Candy Teeter, Kathie Tucker and Robert and Henry Jolley Jr.

He was a U.S. Air Force staff sergeant during the Vietnam War and worked for BellSouth for 30 years.

Services were Nov. 13 in the chapel of L.A. Muhleisen & Son Funeral Home, Kenner, with interment at Masonic Cemetery.

LORIO

BATON ROUGE – Cecile Keller “Gammy” Lorio, 87, a native of Montz and resident of Baton Rouge, died Nov. 21.

She was the wife of the late Bernard Lorio Sr. and mother of Janice Powers, Patrician Hanegan, Anne Leach and Genie, Bernard “B.J.” Jr., Jamie Sr. and the late Rebecca Lorio.

She was the daughter of the late Flavin and Mary Keller and sister of Edith Bergeron and the late Claire Cambre and Dewey, Sydney and Eddie Keller.

She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.

Services are today at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, Baton Rouge, with interment at Resthaven Gardens of Memory. Visitation starts at 9 a.m.

MARCELL

PAULINA – Alberta Marcell, 90, a native of Welham and resident of Paulina, died Nov. 17. She was the mother of Margaret Russell and Alice Marcell.

She is also survived by 17 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

Services are today at 11 a.m. at Evergreen Baptist Church, Paulina, with interment at Antioch Cemetery, Paulina. Visitation starts at 9 a.m.

PIERRE

NEW ORLEANS – Kevin Pierre, 35, a native of Edgard and longtime resident of New Orleans, died Nov. 18. He was the son of Peter Sr. and Victoria Pierre and brother of Stacey Boudoin and Monica and Peter Pierre Jr.

He was a former cook at New Orleans Fair Grounds.

Memorial services are today at 10 a.m. at Carrollton Avenue Church of Christ, New Orleans, with interment at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery, Edgard. Visitation starts at 9 a.m.

ROME

PAULINA – George Joseph Rome Sr., 86, a native and resident of Paulina, died Nov. 19. He was the husband of the late Rose Mae Vicknair Rome and father of Rose Ann Brady, Kathleen “Kathy” Miller and George Rome Jr.

He was the son of the late Marcelin and Laura Dupuy Rome and brother of the late Naila Abadie, Inez Delatte, Ida Ordeneaux, Selma Richardson and Norman, Elmo, Gus, Roland and Frelson Rome.

He is also survived by six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Services were Nov. 22 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Paulina, with interment at the church cemetery.

SARRAZIN

CONVENT – Lionel “Mike” Sarrazin, 65, a native and resident of Convent, died Nov. 14. He was the husband of Lela Porter Sarrazin and stepfather of Lorenzo Vessel.

He was the son of the late Freddie and Augustine Ester Sarrazin and brother of Dianne Ester and the late Dave Sarrazin.

He is also survived by one grandchild.

Services were Nov. 21 at St. James United Methodist Church, Convent, with interment at the church cemetery.

SCOTT

PARADIS – Roger Kay Scott Sr., 53, a native of Norco and resident of Luling, died Nov. 13. He was the husband of Darlene Hill Scott and father of Tamera Brown and Regina and Roger Scott Jr.

He was the son of Sadie Mae Bailey Scott and the late Harry Scott Sr. and brother of Linda Martin, Betty Joe Bailey and Beverly, Gwendolyn, Harry Jr. and Tyronne Scott.

He is also survived by seven grandchildren.

He was a process and brine technician at Occidental Chemical in Taft.

Services are today at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church, Paradis, with interment at the church cemetery. Visitation starts at 9 a.m.

WARNER

RESERVE – Rupert “Mickey” Warner, 64, a native of California and resident of Reserve for 43 years, died Nov. 19. He was the husband of Leah Clement Warner and father of Mickey, Marlon, Todd and Shawn Warner.

He was the son of the late Rupert and Marie Warner and brother of Betty Bourgeois.

He is also survived by nine grandchildren.

Services were Nov. 22 at St. Peter Catholic Church, Reserve, with interment at the church cemetery.
