BERTHELOT
GRAMERCY – Winifred Bourgeois Berthelot, 86, a native of Gramercy, former resident of Kenner for eight years and resident of Baton Rouge for 17 years, died Nov. 12. She was the wife of the late Raoul Berthelot Sr. and mother of Arleen Brignac, Winifred Gilbert, Theresa Oubre, Melinda Becnel and Raoul Berthelot Jr.
She was the daughter of the late James and Dora Bougeois; sister of the late Marie Tircuit and Oliver, Garland and Margie Bourgeois; and half-sister of Ethridge Boucvault, Thisby Cook and Earlina Knight.
She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Services were Nov. 15 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Gramercy, with interment at St. Joseph Mausoleum, Paulina.
BOURGEOIS
SOUTH VACHERIE – John Chrysosthome Bourgeois, 92, a native of Vacherie and resident of New Orleans and Harahan for 61 years, died Nov. 13. He was the husband of the late Marie Antoinette Gravois Bourgeois and father of Rosalie Tubre, Chris Morgan, Jenny Scheurer, Slyvia deLaureal and John, Donald and Sidney Bourgeois.
He was the son of the late Genevieve Reulet and Sidney Bourgeois and brother of Maybelle Falgoust and the late Angel Webre, Rhett Hymel and O’Neil Bourgeois.
He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
He was a retired carpenter and a former member of Carpenter’s Union Local No. 1846.
Services were Nov. 15 at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, South Vacherie, with interment at the church cemetery.
CAIN
DESTREHAN – Alexander Steven “Xander” Cain, 20 months, a native of LaPlace and resident of Destrehan, died Nov. 11. He was the son of David and Michelle Koeberl Cain and brother of Taylor, Elizabeth and Makayla Cain.
He was the grandchild of Robert and Joan Eaton, Walter and Duane Marie Koeberl and Alfred Jr. and Kathleen Cain.
Services were Nov. 15 at St. Charles United Methodist Church, Destrehan, with private interment.
ESTE
MARRERO – Joy Rouselle Este, 79, a native of Luling and lifelong resident of Westwego, died Nov. 12. She was the wife of the late Nolan Este and mother of Roland, Leonard “Tiny” and Rodney Este.
She was the daughter of the late Cyphorien and Alice St. Amant Rouselle and sister of Gloria Gros, Mable Eiseloh and the late Eldridge Pintado, Birdie Wolfridge and Wilbert Rouselle.
She is also survived by seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Services were Nov. 14 in the chapel of Westbank/Leitz-Egan Funeral Home, Marrero, with interment at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Cemetery, Westwego.
FRICKEY
DES ALLEMANDS – Eugene John Frickey, 76, a native and resident of Des Allemands, died Nov. 11. He was the husband of Agnes Dufresne Frickey and father of Sheryl Mann and Terry and Bruce Frickey.
He was the son of the late Alfred and Pauline Dufrene Frickey and brother of E.E. Frickey and the late Fannie Keller and R.J. Frickey.
He is also survived by nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was a retired superintendent for Chevron for 30 years.
Services were Nov. 14 at First Assembly of God Church, Des Allemands, with interment at Sunset Cemetery, Bayou Gauche.
GARSAUD
LAPLACE – Belma Castillo Garsaud, 71, a native of Honduras and resident of LaPlace for 25 years, died Nov. 10. She was the wife of the late Richard Garsaud and mother of Mary Lawson and Richard Garsaud.
She was the daughter of Mercedes Castillo and the late Luis Castillo and is also survived by three brothers and one sister.
She is also survived by three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Memorial services were Nov. 14 in the chapel of Millet-Guidry Funeral Home, LaPlace.
GRUNTZ
DESTREHAN – Alphonse “Al” “Brother” Gruntz died Nov. 14. He was the husband of Alice Palmisano Gruntz and father of Angala “Dodi” Fenerty, Michell Thomas, Alphonse III “Dobie” and the late Alphose “Duke” Gruntz Jr.
He was the brother of the late Marie “Butsie” Cunningham.
He is also survived by six grandchildren and two stepgrandchildren.
Services are today at noon at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Destrehan, with interment at the church mausoleum. Visitation starts at 11 a.m.

WHITE CASTLE – Carrie Jones Link, 63, a native of Holm Solemn and resident of LaPlace, died Nov. 10. She was the mother of Beverly Mandolph, Patricia Dickerson, Pamela Walton and Debra, Roxanne, Sherill, Rickey and David Link Jr.
She was the daughter of Aristah Jones and the late Lydia Jones and sister of Judy Austin, Genevieve Brown, Ouis Williams and Rosie and Milton Jones.
She is also survived by 17 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Services are today at noon at St. Mary Baptist Church, White Castle, with interment at St. Phillip Baptist Cemetery, Modeste. Visitation starts at 9 a.m.
MUMPHREY
MARRERO – Robert “Bob” James Mumphrey, 56, a native of Welcome and resident of Marrero, died Nov. 12. He was the husband of Geneva Celestine Mumphrey and father of Derric Mumphrey.
He was the son of Rosemary Batiste Mumphrey and the late Isaiah Mumphrey Jr. and brother of Ronald Mumphrey.
Services are today at 11 a.m. at Macedonia Baptist Church, Marrero, with interment at Restlawn Cemetery, Avondale. Visitation starts at 9 a.m.
