ALEXIS
NEW ORLEANS – Emma Rollins Alexis, 78, a native of Destrehan and resident of New Orleans for 68 years, died Oct. 31. She was the sister of Clarence Rollins.
Services were Nov. 7 at First Free Missionary Baptist Church, New Orleans, with interment at Lake Lawn Park.
BROWN
HAHNVILLE – Preston Brown Sr., 73, a native of Mississippi, resident of New Orleans for many years and resident of Luling for two years, died Nov. 5. He was the father of Ronda “Wanda” Davis, Sarah Maxwell and Tyrone and Preston Brown Jr.
He was the brother of Dora Lee Prackling and Clifford, Percy and Luther Brown.
He was a retired laborer with Lester’s Moving Company.
Services are today at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Robottom Mortuary, Hahnville, with interment at Bethlehem Cemetery, Hahnville. Visitation starts at 10 a.m.
CAMPBELL
LAPLACE – Willis “Capt. Bill” Campbell, 76, a native of Kaplan and resident of LaPlace for 12 years, died Nov. 6. He was the father of Cathy Touchet and Theresa and Billy Campbell.
He was the brother of Eula Landry, Norris Campbell and the late Doris “T-Boy” and Dudley “T-Dud” Campbell.
He is also survived by four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services were Nov. 8 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, LaPlace, with interment at St. Peter Cemetery, Reserve.
DARENSBOURG
HAHNVILLE – Audrey Oliver “Sister” Darensbourg, 77, a native of Independence and resident of Hahnville for 33 years, died Nov. 6. She was the wife of Fellman Darensbourg and mother of Alice Cunningham, Tyrell Cornwell and Cornelius Darensbourg.
She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Alice Oliver and sister of the late Jessie Oliver.
She is also survived by six grandchildren.
Services were Nov. 8 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Hahnville, with interment at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery, Edgard.
ELLIS
MARRERO – Cecilia Denise “Sweetie” Ellis, 37, a native of Convent and resident of Westwego for 17 years, died Nov. 1. She was the mother of Chelsea Ellis.
She was the daughter of Bernadette Legeaux Cage and sister of Ann Bridges, Jacquelyn Washington, Nicole Smith and Rhea Flowers.
She was the grandchild of Robert Johnson Sr.
She was a volunteer at Sickle Cell Camp and Jefferson Community Action Program’s Head Start Program.
Services are today at 1 p.m. at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, Marrero, with interment at Restlawn Park. Visitation starts at 10 a.m.
GONDOLFO
GRAMERCY – Sam Joseph Gondolfo, 89, a native of Welham and resident of Gramercy, died Nov. 6. He was the husband of 60 years of Josephine Gondolfo and father of Joycelyn Jeansonne and the late Cherry Lousteau and Gwendolyn Gondolfo.
He was the son of the late Joseph and Rose Gondolfo. He was preceded in death by two sisters and five brothers.
He is survived by two grandchildren.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and retired in 1978 from Colonial Sugar Refinery after 33 years.
Services are today at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Gramercy, with interment at St. Joseph Cemetery, Paulina. Visitation starts at 8 a.m.
LANDRY
ST. JAMES – The Rev. Walter John Landry Sr., 58, a resident of Vacherie, died Nov. 5.
He was the husband of Geneva Raynard Landry and father of Jeanine Lafargue and Alicia, Brian and Walter Landry Jr .
He was the son of the late Rev. Ernest and Earnestine Victor Landry and brother of Virginia Geason, Deloris Bailey, Mary Belle Woodfork, Dianne Lawrence and Israel Sr., the Rev. Adam, Barbara, Rose Ann and the late Leonard Landry.
He is also survived by one grandchild.
Services are today at 11 a.m. at Peaceful Zion Baptist Church, St. James, with interment at Moonshine Acres, Moonshine. Visitation starts at 9 a.m.
LENNOX
RESERVE – Viola “Betsy” Lennox, 78, a native of Jefferson Parish and resident of Reserve for many years, died Nov. 6. She was the wife of the late Joseph Lennox.
She was the daughter of the late Edward and Viola White and sister of Beatrice Evans and the late Joseph Ross.
Services are today at 11 a.m. at Greater New Plymouth Rock Baptist Church, Reserve, with interment at Zion Travelers Cemetery, Lions. Visitation starts at 10 a.m.
MART
LAPLACE – John E. Mart Jr., 86, a native of Jefferson Parish and resident of LaPlace for 41 years, died Nov. 5.
He was the husband of Dolores Madere Mart and father of Cynthia Pitre.
He was the son of the late John and Pauline Mart and brother of Frank and A.J. Mart and the late Estelle Courrege and Merlin and Edward Mart.
He is also survived by three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services were Nov. 8 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, LaPlace, with interment at St. Peter Cemetery, Reserve.
WILSON
NORCO – Arthur Wilson Jr., 78, a native of Norco and resident of St. Rose, died Nov. 4. He was the husband of the late Jenny Mae Wilson and father of Gwendolyn Emerson, Kathleen Mitchell, Doreen Pittman, Gail McWilliams and Patricia, Madeline, Donell and Donald Wilson.
He was the son of the late Mary Green Sampson and Arthur Wilson Sr. and is also survived by three brothers and two sisters.
He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Services are today at noon at Greater Good Hope Baptist Church, Norco, with interment at Montz Memorial Park, Montz. Visitation starts at 10 a.m.
