CARTER

LAPLACE – Charles Peter Carter Sr., 83, a native of LaPlace and resident of Reserve for 42 years, died Oct. 16. He was the husband of Olivia Fenroy Carter and father of Brenda Mosley, Christine Zeno, Darlene Johnson, Sheila Louper, Jerry Brown, Lydia Pinson, Willie, Melvin, Abram and Jacqueline Fenroy, Ronald, Tommie, Richard, Walter and Naomi Carter and the late Annette Self, Evelina and Linwood Fenroy and Charles Jr. and Donnie Carter.

He was the brother of John and Richard Carter.

He is also survived by 47 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

Services are today at noon at Milesville Memorial Church of God in Christ, with interment at St. Peter Cemetery, Reserve. Visitation starts at 10 a.m.

COLLINS

RESERVE – Florence “Momma Florence” Smith Collins, 86, a native and resident of Reserve, died Oct. 13. She was the wife of the late Son Collins Sr. and mother of Gladys, Son Jr., Felton, Melven, Mary, Glenn Sr., Gweodolyn, and the late Ramona, Alice Mae, Stella Louise and Raymond Collins. She was also the guardian of Rowena Brtown and Patricia Morgan.

She was the daughter of the late Victoria Anthony and William Smith and sister of Hazel Perry, Ruby Anthony, Joseph Anthony and the late Thody Ellis, John Mack Anthony, David Ellis, Alonzo Anthony and Clarietta Powell.

She is also survived by 27 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren.

Services are today at noon at Greater New Plymouth Rock Baptist Church, Reserve, with interment at Zion Travelers Cemetery, Lions. Visitation starts at 9 a.m.

DILLON

RESERVE – Joseph Eugene Dillon, 13, a native of Chicago, Ill., and resident of Reserve, died Oct. 11. He was the son of Curtis Dillon and Helen Dillon Mason and brother of Marjorie, Bianca, Shante, Tiara, Tory, Darrin and Curtis Dillon III, Michelle and Curtis Mason Jr. and Callen Boddie.

He was a student at Leon Godchaux Junior High School.

Services are today at 11 a.m. at New Pilgrim Baptist Church, Reserve, with interment at Bethlehem Cemetery. Visitation starts at 8 a.m.

HARRIS

BOUTTE – William “Lil Boutte” Harris, 71, a native and resident of Boutte, died Oct. 13. He was the husband by first marriage of Victoria Ingram Harris and by second marriage of Phylis Harris, father of Velvet Davis, Gail Thompson and Lillian, Cassandra, Robin, Avonda, Tiona, Reginald and Nathaniel Harris and stepfather of Annette Sandolph, Jeanelle Pierre and Bridget Gorden.

He was the son of the late Louisa Boyd and Richard Harris and brother of Mickey Hills, Phillip and Arthur Harris and the late Lillian, Dora and Alvena Harris, Nap Riley and Richard “Pie Goo” Harris.

He is also survived by 28 grandchildren, eight stepgrandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.

He was a retired forklift operator at Cytec Industries in Ama.

Services are today at 11 a.m. at Mt. Airy Baptist Church, Boutte, with interment at the church cemetery. Visitation begins at 10 a.m.

JOHNSON

LUTCHER – Enola “Ma Dear” Johnson, 90, a native of Convent and resident of Lutcher, died Oct. 13. She was the wife of the Rev. Dennis Johnson Jr. and mother of Faye Farlough, Hattie LaDay, Denese Washington and Dennis III, Ronald and Donald Johnson.

She was the sister of Margie Jackson and Aldrich Seals.

She is also survived by nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was a retired employee of the St. James Parish Council on Aging.

Services are today at 11 a.m. at King Solomon Baptist Church, Lutcher, with interment at Antioch Cemetery, Paulina.

LANDRY

HARVEY – Anna Mae Landry, 80, a native of LaPlace and resident of Marrero, died Oct. 14. She was the former wife of the late Sabin J. “Pete” Landry Jr. and mother of Maria Magee, Dale Landry Mohammed and Dennis Landry.

She was the daughter of the late Denis and Victoria Casseigne Madere and sister of the late Ethelyn Robichaux.

She is survived by four grandchilden and four great-grandchildren and was preceded in death by one grandchild.

Services were Oct. 17 in the chapel of Mothe Funeral Home, Harvey, with interment at Westlawn Memorial Park.

MADERE

LAPLACE – Violet Villemont Madere, 80, a native of Gramercy and resident of LaPlace for 60 years, died Oct. 15. She was the wife of the late Davis Madere Sr. and mother of Kathleen Andry and Davis Jr. and the late Samuel Madere.

She was the sister of the late Mary LeDoux and Samuel Villemont.

She is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Services were Oct. 18 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, LaPlace, with interment at St. John Memorial Gardens, LaPlace.

RICHARD

BAKER – Peter E. “Pa Pete” Richard, 75, a native of Reserve and resident of Baker, died Oct. 15. He was the husband by first marriage of the late Theresa LaCour Richard, and by second marriage of 23 years of Sarah Maggio Richard and father of Sandra Stiles, Jennifer Hastings, Pamela Milligan, Douglas and David Milligan and Randall Richard.

He was the son of the late Peter Sr. and Leonie Berthelot Richard and brother of Ethel Ockman, Elma Jarreau and Charles Richard and the late Evelyn Simon and James Richard.

He is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was a 1945 graduate of Leon Godchaux High School, a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a retired grocer. He received the Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Medal, World War II Victory Medal and the Army of Occupation Medal.

Services were Oct. 18 at St. Isidore the Farmer Catholic Church, Baker, with interment at Hillcrest Memorial Gardens, Baker.

SCHNYDER

NEW ORLEANS – Dennis C. Schnyder, 63, a native of Reserve and resident of New Orleans for more than 50 years, died Oct. 15. He was the husband of Margaret Ventress Schnyder and father of Sandra Manning, Sabrina Harris and Dennis Jr. and Elijah Schnyder.

He was the brother of Gwendolyn Bouler, Rose Mathieu, Charlene Legeaux, Huey Sorapuru and Anthony, Milton and Herbert Schnyder.

He is also survived by three grandchildren.

Services were Oct. 18 at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, New Orleans, with interment at Lake Lawn Park.

SMITH

ST. JAMES – Izellia Mitchell Smith, 75, a native and resident of St. James, died Oct. 15. She was the wife of the late Earl Smith Sr. and mother of Mary Batiste, Sheila Sharper and Earl Jr., Donald and the late Ella and Rhonda Smith.

She was the daughter of the late Exodus Sr. and Ella Geason Mitchell and sister of Alice Joseph, Helen Sterling, the Rev. Septeme Sr., Exodus and Wilson Mitchell and the late Annie Smith and Henry Mitchell Sr.

She is also survived by one grandchild and two great-grandchildren.

Services are today at 11 a.m. at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, St. James, with interment at Burton Lane Cemetery. Visitation starts at 9 a.m.

ST. PIERRE

EDGARD – Marjorie St. Pierre, 90, a native of Luling and resident of Gretna, died Oct. 16. She was the wife for the late Leopold St. Pierre Sr. and mother of Leopold St. Pierre Jr.

She was the sister of Norma Hymel, Anita Zeringue, Florence Favaron, and the late Lelia St. Pierre and Stanislaus Hymel.

She is also survived by four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two grandchildren.

Services were Oct. 18 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Edgard, with interment at the church cemetery.

WEBRE

HOUMA – Joseph Damase Webre, 84, a native of Vacherie and resident of Houma, died Oct. 14. He was the husband of Marian Marcel Webre and father of Melanie Crochet and Shelia, Hedy, Dale and Rohn Webre.

He was the son of the late Damase and Beatrice Becnel Webre and brother of Ruth Downs, Therese Talbot, Rose Rodrigue and the late Beatrice Oubre, Stella Cazenave, Rita Gilmore and Odile and Victor Webre.

He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Prior to retirement, he was a tool pusher for Texaco for 35 years.

Services were Oct. 16 at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, Houma, with interment at St. Francis de Sales No. 2 Cemetery, Houma.
