ALLEN

WALLACE – Celestine Scieneaux Allen, 96, a native of St. James and resident of Wallace, died Sept. 24. She was the wife of the late Thomas Allen St. and mother of Washington Allen, Mae Belle Harris, Leona Dennis and the late Thomas Allen Jr.

She was the daughter of the late Laura and Aristide Scieneaux and the sister of Eola Dorest, Viola Joseph and Curl Scieneaux. She was preceded in death by two sisters and seven brothers.

She is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

Services are today at 11 a.m. at Greater Woodville Baptist Church, Wallace, with interment at St. Phillip Catholic Church Cemetery, Vacherie. Visitation begins at 9 a.m.

BATISTE

ST. JAMES – Vivian Cayette Batiste. 76, a native of St. James and resident of Houston, died Sept. 23. She was the wife of the late Walter Batiste Sr. and the mother of Walter Jr., Gilbert and Henry Batiste.

She was the daughter of Marie Ferchaud.

She is also survived by one grandchild.

Services were Sept. 27 at St. James Catholic Church, St. James, with interment at the church cemetery.

DUFRESNE

VACHERIE – Percy “P.G.” Gerard Dufresne, 80, a native and resident of Wallace, died Sept. 22. He was the son of the late Benjamin and Louise LeBoeuf Dufresne and the brother of Ruth Waguespack, Mabel Melanson, Alvin Dufresne and the late Bessie Schexnayder and Russell and Joyce Dufresne.

Services are today at 10:30 a.m. at St. Philip Catholic Church, Vacherie, with interment at the church mausoleum. Visitation begins at 8:30 a.m.

HARMON

VACHERIE – Johnny P. Harmon, 90, a resident of Vacherie, died Sept. 25. He was the husband of the late Louise Triche Harmon and the father of Johnny Jr. and Anne Brett.

He was the son of the late Charles and Florence Brown Harmon and the brother of the late Beatrice Hankamer, Myrtie Brewer and Elmo and Alva Harmon.

He is also survived by five grandchildren.

Services are today at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Vacherie, with interment at the church cemetery. Visitation begins at 9 a.m.

KIRKLIN

PAULINA – Isadore “The Mustard Green Man” Kirklin Sr., 96, a native and resident of Paulina, died Sept. 23. He was the husband of the late Evelina Jackson Kirklin and father of Dorothy Barney, Jeannine Gaines, Patricia Long and Isadore Jr., Murphy Sr., Lionel, Melvin, Stanley and Ronald Kirklin.

He was the son of the late Anthony and Francis Kirklin.

He is also survived by 31 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

Services are today at 11 a.m. at Evergreen Baptist Church, Paulina, with interment at Antioch Cemetery, Paulina. Visitation begins at 8 a.m.

LAWLESS

NEW ORLEANS – Alice Vaughn Lawless, 91, a native of Convent and resident of New Orleans, died Sept. 19. She was the mother of Lawrence and Edward Jackson.

She was the sister of Doris Allen and Percy and Morris Vaughn.

She is also survived by five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Services are today at 10 a.m. at Third Rose of Sharon Baptist Church, with interment at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.

MARSE

RESERVE – Norman “Fatty” Joseph Marse Sr., 73, a native and resident of Reserve, died Sept. 25. He was the husband of Betty Ockmond Marse and the father of Natalie Dupre and Corwin, Norman Jr. and the late Christopher and Lawrence Marse.

He was the son of Estella Marse and the late Abel Marse and the brother of Emily Boudreaux, Thelma Vicknair, Clarence Marse and the late Nolan Marse Sr. and Jeanette Cambre.

He is also survived by seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Services are today at 10 a.m. at St. Peter Catholic Church, Reserve, with interment at the church cemetery. Visitation begins at 8 a.m.

ROY

Mt. AIRY – Elizabeth Ann “Betty” Roy, 70, a native of Washington, D.C. and resident of LaPlace, died Aug. 16. She was the mother of Michael Loibl, Ann Hartley, Christine Roniger and Margaret Cross.

She was the sister of Chester Roy.

She is also survived by eight grandchildren.

Services were Aug. 19 at Bardell’s Mortuary, Mt. Airy.

TROXCLAIR

GARYVILLE – Edward Joseph Troxclair, 88, a native of Garyville and resident of Mt. Airy, died Sept. 26. He was the son of the late Cyr Benoit Troxclair and Marie Schexnayder and the brother of the late Stella Zeringue and Claude, George, Albert, Raymond, Hubert, Benoit, Lousie, Pauline and Olide Troxclair.

Services are today at noon at St. Hubert Catholic Church, Garyville, with interment at St. Peter Cemetery, Reserve. Visitation begins at 11 a.m.

WHITE

AVONDALE – Virginia “Ellen” White, 76, a native of Killona and resident of Marrero, died Sept. 21. She was the mother of JoAnn Pryor, Willie Jr., Donald Sr., Evans and Charles Dennis and the late Paul Watkins, Joyce Webber.

She is also survived by four brothers and two sisters.

Services were Sept. 27 at St. Joseph Baptist Church, Marrero, with interment at Restlawn Cemetery, Avondale.
