BATON ROUGE – More than 170 employers will be on hand Thursday from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m. for Career Day at LSU at the Pete Maravich Assembly Center.

Halliburton, Shell, ExxonMobil, ChevronTexaco, BASF, McDermott, Dow Chemical, Community Coffee, Target, Mervyn’s Reliant Energy, Cintas and Enterprise Rent-A-Car are just a few of the companies that will be represented at the event.

Tulane University, the University of Tennessee Space Institute and several LSU graduate and professional programs are also scheduled to attend the event.

Employers will be stationed at exhibit tables to recruit attendees for internships, graduate school opportunities, part-time, summer or full-time jobs.

The event is free and open to the public. Dress is casual.

“The event is not just for juniors and seniors,” said Mary Belleau, assistant director of LSU Career Services. “Networking with the right people now can be beneficial to students later, when they are looking for full-time employment or considering pursuing a graduate degree.”

Belleau also said Career Day can help students learn which employers are requesting their majors and what kind of jobs they may have in the future.

The Office of LSU Student Organizations is co-sponsoring the event with Career Services.
