ETIENNE

RESERVE – Janice Etienne, 62, a native and resident of Montz, died Aug. 31. She was the wife of the late Raymond Etienne, and mother of Terrence and Raymond Etienne Jr.

She was the daughter of Helen Thomas Seymour, and the late Phillip Seymour, and sister of Alta Mae Wilson, Edna and Larry Seymour, and the late Doris Dewey and Phillip Seymour.

She is also survived by eight grandchildren.

Services are today at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Reserve, with interment at Jefferson Memorial Gardens, St. Rose. Visitation starts at 8 a.m.

LANDRY

LULING – Willie Paul “Billy” Landry, 80, a native of White Castle and resident of Luling, died Aug. 26. He was the husband of Rita Mae “Sister” Ourso Landry and father of Lucille “Chookie” Worsham, Carol “Cissy” Bishop, Kevin and Dale Landry.

He is also survived by nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He was retired from Monsanto Company in Luling.

Services are Sept. 6 at 8:30 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, Luling.

LECHE

BLACKSBURY, VA. – Lowery Erwin Leche, 71, a native of Hahnville and resident of Blacksbury, Va. for nine years, died Aug. 19. He was the husband of Anna Wade and father of Cynthia Jefferson and Levern Clark.

He was the brother of Corilla Williams, Juanita Byrd and Norman Leche.

He served in the U.S. Army for more than 23 years and was employed by American Cyanamid.

Services were Aug. 24, with interment at Blacksbury Cemetery.

MICHEL

MARRERO – Juliet Cortez Michel, 70, a native of LaPlace and resident of Avondale for 40 years, died Aug. 30. She was the wife of Edwin “Mike” Michel and mother of Kenneth, William, David, and the late Edwin Michel Jr.

She was the sister of Victoria Donley, Frances Toland, Evelyn Songy, Herbert, Barbara, and the late Richard Cortez.

Services were Sept. 3 in the chapel of Mothe Funeral Home, Marrero, with interment at Restlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Avondale.

MILLER

DONALDSONVILLE – Wilton Miller Sr., 68, a native of St. James and resident of Donaldsonville for 28 years, died Aug. 31. He was the husband of Carrie S. Miller, father of Geneviere Butler, Karen Butler, Carol Joseph, Laverne, Wilton Jr., Kyle, Donald, Andre, Michael, Craig and Derrick Miller, and stepfather of Anthony Nicholas.

He was the brother of Rose Windlow, Lucille Miller, Louise Davis, Luciender Gatlin, Geneva McPherson, Viola Jeffery, Elenora Clark, James, Arthur and Walter Miller.

He is also survived by 16 grandchildren.

He was a carpenter.

Services are today at 11 a.m. at Mt. Triumph Baptist Church, Donaldsonville, with interment at the church cemetery. Visitation starts at 9 a.m.

NORRIS

HIGHLANDS, TEXAS – Melvin David Norris, 81, a native of Raywood, Texas, and resident of Luling for 30 years, died Aug. 31. He was the husband of the late Ethel Welch Norris, and father of Barbara Sassin and Ronald Norris.

He was the son of the late Bill and Bertha Ott Norris and brother of the late Pauline Theodore.

He is also survived by eight grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

Services were Sept. 3 at Sterling White Chapel, Highlands, Texas, with interment at White Cemetery.

OUBRE

GRAMERCY – Anna Mae Oubre, 78, a native of Reserve and resident of St. James Parish for 53 years, died Aug. 31. She was the wife of Gilmer Oubre Sr. and mother of Shelia Kliebert, Anna Mixon, Gilmer Jr. and Ward Oubre Sr.

She was the daughter of the late Abraham Sr. and Jeanne LaBranche Gueret, and sister of Odelia Gagliano, Bertha Aubert, Lucretia Roussel, Delores Duhe, Hazel, Lawrence, Charles, Abraham Jr. and Henry Gueret.

She is also survived by nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Services were Sept. 3 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Gramercy.

OVIDE

RESERVE – Florence Favorite Ovide, 91, a native of St. James and resident of Reserve for more than 50 years, died Aug. 27. She was the wife of Anthony Ovide Sr., mother of Edward Scioneaux Sr. and stepmother of Rita McBuffy, Ralph and Anthony Ovide Jr.

She is also survived by 16 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

Services were Sept. 2 at Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church, Reserve, with interment at Our Lady of Peace Cemetery, South Vacherie.

SCHELL

NORCO – Emilio Geraldo Schell, 70, a native of Autofagasta, Chile, and resident of LaPlace for 35 years, died Aug 28. He was the husband of Jacklin Hennessey Ortiz and father of Miguel Ortiz and Ana Babin.

He is also survived by four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

He was a long-time member of the LaPlace Volunteer Fire Department.

Services were Sept. 2 in the chapel of H.C. Alexander Funeral Home, Norco.
