DEAR EDITOR: OK, enough of the complainers who find fault with our new St. John Parish library. I’m here to say that it’s a wonderful place to go. If you like Barnes & Noble, you’ll like the new library. It’s got it all, except the coffee and cash registers. Thanks to all who endeavored to make it happen.

The place is spacious, bright and relaxing. They have computers, books on tape, a children’s area, meeting rooms and soft, upholstered chairs by the magazines and newspapers. Outside, you’ll find porches with rocking chairs – something the old library didn’t have.

It’s not surrounded by a neighborhood so the kids can ride their bikes to it? When life gives you lemons, make lemonade. In this case, make going to the library a family occasion. The kids are at school all day, leaving not much time to spend with them? Why not spend time together at the library? Share a roll of Life Savers on the way. After you’ve helped them find books for the report they dread, look for books on subjects that mean a lot to them…and you. Share the love of learning.
