DEAR EDITOR: The St. Charles Humane Society and the Riverlands S.P.C.A .want to thank St. Charles and St. John Parish residents for supporting “Paws” for Lunch with Angela Hill and Frank Davis.

The luncheon was produced because two organizations from two different parishes came together for one cause – companion animals. It was a success and it was very gratifying to see so many residents show their support by taking an afternoon from their busy schedules to join us. Many people commented on the festive atmosphere and compliments were heard throughout the day. There were raves about the lunch by George Becnel (Palmetto Restaurant), the charming fashion show by “Prima Donna’s Closet:, the fresh flower arrangements by Betty Portera (A Maison de Fleur), the artful ticket by Matt Touchard (Zermatt Design) and all the silent auction items. It would not have been possible without the support and expertise of Nancy Robert, Manager of Destrehan Plantation. Corporations stepped forward with financial aid for expenses and sponsorship dollars: Shell Oil Company, Orion Refining Corporation and Reserve Telecommunications.

Last but not least; Angela Hill and Frank Davis commented on the wonderful turn-out and how well the community received them. We share a vision with Channel 4 News Team in making the environment safe for companion animals, protecting their lives and defending their welfare.

We are grateful for the support of the community and hope that you will continue to support us so that healthy animals will have an opportunity to be adopted and placed in loving homes.
