EDLER
LAPLACE – Hardy Joseph Edler, 62, a resident of Reserve for 62 years, died Aug. 7. He was the husband of Barbara Duhe Edler and father of Ched, Kevin and Ron Edler.
He was the son of the late Clinton Sr. and Malde Madere Edler and brother of Marilyn Acosta, Janice McTopy, Clinton Jr. “C.J” and Mickey Edler.
He is also survived by four grandchildren.
He was a U.S. Army veteran and a produce manager for 42 years, employed at Frank’s Supermarket in LaPlace.
Services were Aug. 9 in the chapel of Millet-Guidry Funeral Home, LaPlace, with interment at St. Peter Cemetery, Reserve.
ETIENNE
VACHERIE – Irvin Theophile Etienne, 82, a native and resident of Vacherie, died Aug. 6.
He was the husband of the late Mildred Noel Etienne and father of Mary Stewart, Rita Johnson, Brenda Trench, Linda Rixner, Mildred Etienne-Foster, Faye Hooker, Lorenza Joseph and Vondra and August Etienne.
He is also survived by 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was a retired construction worker.
Services are today at 10 a.m. at St. Philip Catholic Church, Vacherie, with interment at the church mausoleum.
Visitation starts at 8:30 a.m.
MITCHELL
NORCO – Henry Eugene Mitchell, 75, a native of Ponchatoula and resident of Destrehan for 49 years, died Aug. 6. He was the husband of 53 years of Rowena Adams Mitchell and father of Linda Carroll and Marcus, Eric and Michael Mitchell.
He was the son of the late Henry and Amelia “Sis” Mitchell and brother of Betty Faulterman and the late Patsy Sonders.
He is also survived by five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, former employee of the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office and St. Charles Parish Department of Public Works and was owner/operator of Mitchell Tractor Service.
Memorial services are today at 4 p.m. in the chapel of H.C. Alexander Funeral Home, Norco.
OLIVIER
GRAMERCY – Pliny Louis Olivier Sr., 85, a native and resident of Gramercy, died Aug. 7. He was the husband of Esther Bossier Oliver and father of Peggy Pippenger, Phyllis Robichaux and Marie, Gayle, Pliny Jr., Richard, James and Charles Olivier.
He was the son of the late Joseph and Aglae Kroll Olivier and brother of Claire Dicharry and Ben, Gerald and George Olivier.
He was a retired machinist for Shell Oil Refinery in Norco.
He is also survived by 21 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.
Services are today at 11 a.m. at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Gramercy, with interment at St. Joseph Mausoleum, Paulina. Visitation starts at 8 a.m.
PALMISANO
DESTREHAN – Gertrude St. Pe Palmisano, 87, a native of New Sarpy and resident of Slidell for seven years, died July 31. She was the wife of the late Joseph Peter Palmisano and mother of Carol Bray, Joseph and Freddie Palmisano and the late Rosemary Mancuso.
She was the daughter of the late Leland and Felicia St. Pe and sister of Lydia Perdreauville.
She is also survived by 17 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Services are today at 11 a.m. at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Destrehan, with interment at the church mausoleum.
WILLIAMS
RESERVE – Edna Ricks Williams, 92, a native of Edgard and resident of Reserve, died Aug. 3. She was the wife of the late James Williams and mother of Viola Telfair, Jessie Smith, Audrey Vinnette and the Rev. George, James Jr., Matthew, Kitty, Julia and Ruth Williams.
She is also survived by 19 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Services are today at 11 a.m. at New Pilgrim Baptist Church, Reserve, with interment at Zion Travelers Cemetery, Lions. Visitation starts at 10 a.m.
