LAPLACE – Three sex crimes were reported to authorities over the weekend in St. John the Baptist and St. Charles parishes.

Chief Deputy Harold Klibert, of the St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s Office, said a 12-year-old Edgard girl told her father on July 7 she was raped by an 18-year-old neighbor. She said the suspect grabbed her, kissed her and forced himself upon her. The victim waited until her father got home from work before reporting it to him, Klibert said.

Devon Borne, 18, of 139 Tigerville Loop, Edgard, was arrested Monday in connection with the alleged incident and charged with carnal knowledge of a juvenile.

In St. Charles Parish, a 41-year-old man is in custody and charged with allegedly molesting his 14-year-old stepdaughter.

Capt. Patrick Yoes said the victim was allegedly molested on three separate occasions between March and May 2002. The victim eventually told her mother and the mother called the sheriff’s office, resulting in the man’s arrest on July 4. His name was withheld by the sheriff’s office to protect the victim’s identity.

Also on July 4, Jowarski R. Nedd, 21, of 178 Nedd Lane, Paradis, was charged with the aggravated rape of a Des Allemands woman. Yoes said that on July 4, Nedd allegedly entered the victim’s bedroom as she was sleeping.

He awakened her, threatened her with a handgun, and, according to the police report, raped her. Nedd was arrested the same morning, and charged with aggravated rape, aggravated burglary, illegal carrying of a concealed weapon, resisting arrest by flight and probation violation.

His bond was set at $186,500 by 29th Judicial District Judge Robert Chaisson.
