AUTIN

RACELAND – Whitney Joseph Autin Sr., 76, a native of Raceland, former resident of Luling and resident of Metairie, died July 2. He was the husband of Rita Herbert Autin and father of Cynthia Eliser and Whitney Autin Jr.

He was the son of the late Lelvis and Melvina Daigle Autin and brother of Lubey Robichaux, Loveless and Lawrence Autin and the late Eula Spaia and Loney, Clifton, Hubert, Ernest and Mildred Autin.

He is also survived by two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He ws a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, a member of Teamsters Local 270 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3750 and a retired truck driver.

Services were July 5 at St. Mary Catholic Church, Raceland, with interment at the church cemetery.

GAUFF

MT. AIRY – Larry T. Gauff Jr., 41, a native and resident of Garyville, died June 30. He was the son of Joyce Telfair Lewis and the late Larry Gauff Sr.; brother of Yolanda Joseph, Deborah, Ledenia, Kim, Deatrice, Eric and Lenord Gauff; Raven, Renaldo and Timothy Lewis and stepbrother of Leslie Gauff and Kerry Magee.

He was the grandchild of Alberta Williams and the late Isiah Telfair and Lucien Sr. and Velma Gauff.

Services are today at 10 a.m. at St. Mark Baptist Church, Mt. Airy, with interment at Zion Travelers Cemetery, Lions. Visitation starts at 8 a.m.

LASSERRE

MARINGOUIN – Pauline D’Amico Lasserre, 85, a native of Vacherie and resident of Maringouin, died July 2. She was the wife of the late Joseph Lasserre Sr. and mother of Theresa Brown, June Pertuit, Toni Andries and Joseph Jr. and Paul Lasserre.

She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Frances Colletti D’Amico and sister of Mary Rizzutto, Gertrude Deaville, Rosalie Langhetee and Vincent, Sam, Philip and the late Josephine, Virginia, Tony and Angelo D’Amico.

She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one grandchild.

Services were July 4 at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church, Maringouin, with interment at the church mausoleum.

LASSITER

GONZALES – Zayne Mason Lassiter, 16 months, a native of LaPlace and resident of Convent, died July 2. He was the son of Irene Rose Schexnaydre and Joseph Lassitter.

He was the grandchild of Nathan and Brenda Schexnaydre and Tommy and Lue Nell Lassitter and the great-grandchild of Gary and Mae Brignac.

Services were July 3 at St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church, Gonzales, with interment at Cornerview Cemetery, Gonzales.

MITCHELL

ST. JAMES – Joyce Thomas Mitchell, 53, a native and resident of St. James, died June 30. She was the wife by first marriage of the late Herbert Joseph, and by second marriage of Mark Mitchell and mother of Elisha Young and Herbert, Kevin, Mark, Avery and the late Shona Joseph.

She was the daughter of the late Israel and Irma Thomas and sister of Doris Southerland, Mary Watkins, Charlotte Anderson, Daniel Small Jr., Warren Stewart and the late Israel Thomas Jr.

She is also survived by two grandchildren.

Services are today at 11 a.m. at Mt. Bethel Baptist Church, St. James, with interment at the church cemetery. Visitation starts at 9:30 a.m.

NEAL

LAPLACE – Mildred Catron Neal, 91, a native of Plain, Miss., and resident of LaPlace for nine years, died June 30. She was the wife of the late Johnnie Neal and mother of Carol Chaix and Johnnie B. and the late Dr. B. Larry Neal.

She was the sister of Edith Wallace.

She is also survived by five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one grandchild.

Services were July 3 in the chapel of Millet-Guidry Funeral Home, LaPlace, with interment at Garden of Memory Cemetery, Metairie.

PREAU

METAIRIE – Dorothy Bourgeois Preau, 86, a native of Edgard and resident of Metairie for 38 years, died July 2. She was the wife of the late William Preau Jr. and mother of Dorothy Serpas, Suzanne Chauvin and David and Dr. William Preau III.

She was the daughter of the late Benjamin Sr. and Lelia Webre Bourgeois and sister of Enid Zeringue, Lelia Galjour, Doris Manalla, Ethelyn Miller and Hartridge, Benjamin Jr., Daniel and the late Ruth Frank and Edith Mae Bourgeois.

She is also survived by five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Services were July 5 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Metairie, with interment at St. Louis No. 3 Cemetery.

WALLACE

EDGARD – Ella Farnell Wallace, 83, a native of Edgard, longtime former resident of New Orleans and resident of Edgard, died June 29. She was the wife of Louis Wallace.

She was the daughter of the late Alfred and Crozelia Jasmine Farnell and sister of Julia Grows, Cleveland Farnell and the late Rose Landry, Melvina Hill and John Sr., Lucien and August Farnell.

Services are today at noon at New Jerusalem Baptist Church, Edgard, with interment at the church cemetery. Visitation starts at 9 a.m.
