ARNAUD

MARINGOUIN – Lovenia Gilbert Arnaud, 92, a native of Vacherie and resident of Rosedale, died April 9. She was the wife of the late Joseph Arnaud Sr., and mother of Mattie Davenport and Joseph II and Walter Arnaud Sr.

She was also the sister of Mary O’Conner. She was preceded in death by six sisters and two brothers.

She is also survived by 21 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren and 25 great-great-grandchildren.

Services are today at 11 a.m. at New Light Baptist Church, Grosse Tete, with interment at the church cemetery. Visitation starts at 9 a.m.

BENNETT

GRETNA – Yvonne Evans Bennett, 48, a native of New Orleans and resident of Ama for 25 years, died April 8. She was the wife of Arthur Bennett III and mother of Jonathan Bennett.

She was also the daughter of Marion Bates Evans and the late Nathaniel Evans.

Services are today at 10:30 a.m. at Westbank Christian Center, Gretna, with interment at Mayflower Cemetery, Ama. Visitation starts at 8:30 a.m.

BUTLER

GRETNA – Ethel Mae Butler, 70, a native of Vacherie and resident of Harvey for 50 years, died April 7. She was the mother of Eugene and Herbert Butler Jr.

She was also the sister of Vidella Daggs, Florence Johnson and the Rev. Joseph Broden.

She is also survived by two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She was a retired cook with the Jefferson Parish Public School System.

Services are today at at 11 a.m. at St. Mark Baptist Church, Gretna, with interment at St. Luke Cemetery, Moonshine. Visitation starts at 9 a.m.

DELHOMMER

LAPLACE – Marie Helen Catoire Delhommer, 81, a native of Reserve and resident of LaPlace for 42 years, died April 8. She was the wife of the late Joseph Delhommer and mother of Jo Ann Madere, Donna Allison, Mary Elizabeth Clement and the late Maria Louque Acosta.

She was also the daughter of the late Rene and Elvire Chapoton Catoire and sister of Louise Oubre, Mae Kugler, Elmore and Pershing Catoire and the late Lucille Keller and Clarence, Henry and Lloyd Catoire.

She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one grandchild.

Services were April 11 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, LaPlace, with interment at St. Peter Cemetery, Reserve.

FAVORITE

ST. JAMES – Wilson Joseph Favorite Sr., 81, a native and resident of Vacherie, died April 9. He was the husband of Bertha Louise Pierre Favorite and father of Juliette Jasper and Kathleen, Marrie, Wilson Jr., James and Anthony Favorite.

He was also the son of the late Joseph and Virginia Lemieux Favorite and brother of the late Harold Favorite Sr.

He is also survived by 17 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Services were April 12 at St. James Catholic Church, St. James, with interment at the church cemetery.

HAYDEL

METAIRIE – Vivian A. Haydel, 92, a native of Luling and resident of Metairie for 29 years, died April 11. She was the wife of the late Edward Haydel and mother of Francis and Norman Haydel.

She was also the daughter of the late Jules and Amelie Fourroux, sister of the late Roy and Kermit Fourroux and stepsister of the late Olga Lingoni, Nemour Nester and Thelma Fourroux.

She is also survived by nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Services are today at noon in the chapel of Leitz-Eagan Funeral Home, Metairie, with interment at Garden of Memories. Visitation starts at 9:30 a.m.

JOHNSON

LAPLACE – Elzina “Mama Zen” Johnson, 74, a native and resident of Reserve, died April 4. She was the mother of Arobee Bates, Sheila Johnson, Ethel Mae Trujillio and Clarence Jenkins Jr.

She was also the guardian of Elzina Jenkins and Romalish Craighead.

She is also survived by seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Services are today at 11 a.m. at New Home Full Gospel Ministries, LaPlace, with interment at Bethlehem Baptist Church Cemetery, Reserve. Visitation starts at 10 a.m.

TUSON

LAPLACE – Mary Kelley Tuson, 85, a native of Philadelphia, Pa., and resident of LaPlace for 19 years, died April 8. She was the wife of the late W. Robert Tuson and mother of Katherine and William Tuson.

She was also the daughter of the late John and Loretta Greene Kelley and sister of Eileen Comiskey, Kathleen Yeakle and George and the late John and Hugh Kelley.

Memorial services were April 12 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, LaPlace, with interment at St. John Memorial Gardens, LaPlace.

WEBER

EDGARD – Woodrow “Boo-Boo” “Frog” Weber, 76, a native and resident of Edgard, died April 7.

He was the son of the late Samson and Odele Poche Weber and brother of Viola Taylor and Alma, the Rev. Joseph and the late Stanley “Red” Weber.

Services are today at 10 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Edgard, with interment at the church cemetery. Visitation starts at 8 a.m.
