CLAYTON
NEW ORLEANS – Jacob Clayton, 72, a native of Hester and resident of New Orleans for 51 years, died April 3. He was the son of the late Charles Sr. and Mary Willis Clayton and brother of Frances Sanders and Charles Jr., Ernest Sr., James Sr., Esau, John and the late Harry and Herman Clayton Sr.
He was a former employee of the Purple Rain Lounge and Silos Restaurant.
Services were April 8 at Evergreen Baptist Church, Paulina, with interment at Antioch Cemetery, Paulina.
LOUPE
PAULINA – Albert Joseph “Baba” Loupe, 72, a native of Gramercy and resident of LaPlace for 36 years, died April 7. He was the husband of Pearl Reese Loupe and father of Pearl Beauford and Jeffrey Loupe.
He was the brother of Agnes, Velda and Amie Loupe.
He is also survived by seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was a U.S. Army veteran and member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was also a retired operator for Alcoa Aluminum.
Services were April 9 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Paulina, with interment at the church mausoleum.
OCKMOND
SOUTH VACHERIE – Lucien Joseph Ockmond Sr., 85, a native and resident of Vacherie, died April 8. He was the husband of the late Marie Louise Becnel Ockmond and father of Carolyn Graugnard, Lucien Ockmond Jr. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter.
He was the son of the late Onezime and Olympe Oubre Ockmond and brother of Theolane Tregre and the late Elodie Becnel, Lucille De Rocher, Lucitte Dempster and Charles and Oris Ockmond.
He is also survived by six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was a retired employee of the Louisiana Office of Highways.
Services are today at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, South Vacherie, with interment at the church mausoleum. Visitation starts at 8 a.m.
RITTER
LULING – Clarence “Tex” Ritter, 65, a native of New Orleans and resident of Luling for 28 years, died April 2. He was the father of Cheryl Usey, Michelle Schaubhut and Renee and Mike Ritter.
He is also survived by four grandchildren.
He was a former sales representative for West Building Materials, Hill-Behan Lumber Co. and Liberty Lumber.
Services are today at 8:30 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, Luling, with private interment.
SMITH
EDGARD – Noelie Boudoin Hilaire Smith, 94, a native and resident of Edgard, died April 2.
She was the wife by first marriage of the late Romauld Hilaire and by second marriage of the late Arnold Smith and mother of Grace Cook, Audrey Oubre, Dolores Cox and Bertrand Hilaire Sr.
She was the daughter of the late Albert and Olympe Barnes Boudoin and sister of the late Sylvie, Louis and Chester Boudoin.
She is also survived by 28 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.
Services were April 8 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Edgard, with interment at the church cemetery.
