CONWAY
BATON ROUGE – Shirley Dufresne Conway, 75, a native of Montz and resident of Baton Rouge, died March 31. She was the wife of Ken Conway and mother of Sharon Shiflett, Diana Higgins, Mary Hutchinson, Cathy Felix, Norman Shiflett and John Conway.
She was the daughter of the late F.E. and Vivian Vicknair Dufresne and sister of Dorothy Keller and the late Vivian Ryan, Mary Weber and F.E. Dufresne Jr.
She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
She was a retired employee of the Louisiana Department of Labor.
Services are pending with interment at Greenoaks Memorial Park, Baton Rouge.
GILARDI
DESTREHAN – Anthony “A.J.” Gilardi, 63, a native of St. Rose and resident of Franklinton, died March 30. He was the husband of Judy “Petit” Gilardi and father of Cindy Hamilton, Lynda Bonner, Joan Adams and the late Donna Ratliff.
He was the son of the late Joe and Nancy Gilardi and brother of Vita Zeringue, Manuella LeBlanc and Joseph “Bud,” Sam “Sonny,” Benny “Pat” and Gasper Gilardi.
He is also survived by 10 grandchildren.
He was the former owner and operator of A.J. Heating and Air Conditioning and a member of Louisiana Thoroughbred Breeders Association.
Services were April 2 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Destrehan, with interment at the church mausoleum.
HEWLING
METAIRIE – Frances Ragusa Hewling, 59, a native of New Orleans and resident of Destrehan for 15 years, died March 28. She was the wife of Richard Hewling and mother of Lisa Ann Paul.
She was the daughter of Frank J. Ragusa and sister of Barbara Ragusa.
Services were April 2 in the chapel of Lake Lawn Funeral Home, Metairie, with interment at Lake Lawn Park.
JOSEPH
MT. AIRY – Henry Joseph Jr., 82, a native and resident of Mt. Airy, died March 28. He was the husband of the late Gussie Mae Joseph and father of Veronica Scott, Valerie Keller, Beulah Sarah and Hurrian, Henry, Rodney, retired Lt. Col. Ricky and the Rev. Reginald Joseph. He was also the companion of Rosa Mae Desselle.
He was the son of the late Henry Sr. and Alfretta Joseph and brother of Vivian Braxton, Audrey Bourgeois and Russell Joseph.
He is also survived by 43 grandchildren and 39 great-grandchildren.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and served as a sergeant. He received the EAMETO Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Bronze Arrowhead Metal and World War II Victory Medal. He was a retired scale operator at Godchaux-Henderson Sugar Refinery.
Services are today at 11 a.m. at St. Mark Baptist Church, Mt. Airy, with interment at Golden Wreath Cemetery, Lutcher. Visitation starts at 10 a.m.
MAGEE
RESERVE – Delores Griffin Magee, 69, a native of LaPlace and resident of Reserve, died March 29. She was the former wife of Johnnie Magee Sr. and mother of Johnnie Jr., Joseph, Gilbert, Imogene and the late Robert Magee.
She was the daughter of Alter Mae Toppins and the late Joseph Griffin and sister of Vivian Griffin, Horace Jr. and Clarence Toppins and the late Marion Evans.
She is also survived by four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
She was a retired teacher.
Services are today at 10 a.m. at Rescue Mission Missionary Baptist Church, Reserve, with interment at Magee Family Cemetery, Franklinton. Visitation starts at 8 a.m.
MITCHELL
GRETNA – Coralie Steib Mitchell, 93, a native of Vacherie and resident of Gretna for many years, died March 28. She was the wife of the late Edgar Mitchell.
She was the daughter of the late Armelise and Mathilda Dumas Steib and sister of Eugenia Oubre, Natalie Steib and the late Lelia Oubre and Carl Steib. Services were April 1 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Gretna, with interment at McDonoughville Cemetery, Gretna.
TERRANOVA
DES ALLEMANDS – Mary Delatte Terranova, 70, a native of Vacherie and resident of Des Allemands, died March 29. She was the wife of Joseph Terranova and mother of Pauline Folse, Dianne Scariano and Joseph Jr. and Paul Terranova.
She was the daughter of the late Paul and Pauline Steib Delatte and sister of Betty Becnel and Norbert and the late Donald and Norman “Pee-Wee” Delatte.
She is also survived by six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Services were April 1 at St. Gertrude Catholic Church, Des Allemands, with interment at the church mausoleum.
