BATON ROUGE – Now that 13 of the 23 sports offered by the Louisiana High School Athletic Association now complete, spring sports grab the spotlight in the race for the 2002 Southern Quality Ford Cup.

The LHSAA’s All-Sports Award, sponsored by the Southern Quality Ford Dealers, recognizes the top athletic programs in each of the seven classifications.

“Each year we seem to have a mixture of perennial leaders and new contenders. This combination leads to an exciting finish in May,” said LHSAA Marketing Director Mitch Small in a recent press release.

Completed sports are volleyball, boys’ and girls’ cross country, boys’ and girls’ swimming, football, wres-tling, boys’ and girls’ soccer, boys’ and girls’ indoor track and boy’s and girls’ basketball.

“As the spring season and the Southern Quality Ford Dealers’ Cup race heat-up, it’s a great time to reflect on the many victories and lessons achieved throughout the journey,” commented Adrian Harris, Southern Quality Ford Dealers’ board member.

“The Cup is designed to recognize the combined pursuit of excellence by student-athletes, coaches, parents and fans involved in LHSAA athletic programs.”

He said the Southern Quality Ford Dealers are proud to recognize the significant time and dedication put forth by so many people in each school’s community and commends the commitment, honor and perseverance of each and every participant.
