COLLINS
LUTCHER – Huey P. “Goolie” Collins, 66, a native of Paulina and resident of Lutcher, died Jan. 7. He was the husband of Melvina Johnson Collins and father of Tracey Bailey, Ramona Ezidore and Elesha, Tarasha and Mark Collins.
He was the son of Leroy Collins Sr. and the late Ethel McGee Collins and brother of Audrey McField, Vera Smith, Carol Detiege and Mary Ann, Gerald, Terrell and the late Leroy Collins Jr.
He is also survived by nine grandchildren.
Services are today at noon at First Community Antioch Baptist Church, Lutcher, with interment at the church cemetery. Visitation starts at 10:30 a.m.
HILL
NEW ORLEANS – Arthur Hill Jr., 49, a native of New Orleans and resident of St. Rose for 20 years, died Jan. 7. He was the father of Carmen Gilbert.
He was the son of Arthur Sr. and Cinderella Hill and brother of Glenda, Wanda and Patrice Hill.
He is also survived by two grandchildren. He was the companion of Lillion Freeman.
He was a driver with City Blue Print and Supply Co., lead guitarist for the Southern Bells and the Zion Harmonizer gospel groups and was a former member of the Mighty Imperials gospel group.
Services are today at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Estelle J. Wilson Funeral Home, New Orleans, with interment at Jefferson Memorial Gardens Cemetery, St. Rose. Visitation starts at 9 a.m.
JOHNSON
VACHERIE – Ethel Belle Williams Johnson, 69, a native and resident of Vacherie, died Jan. 8. She was the wife of the late Davis Johnson and mother of Karen Pierre, Colleen Noel, Mary Thomas, Albert Noel, Eseton and David Johnson and the late Fran Williams and Cynthia Noel.
She was the daughter of the late Thomas Sr. and Sophie Howard Williams and sister of Eva Stewart, Ora Rybiskie, Cornelius, Matthew Sr., Israel and Solomon Williams and the late Leona Cage and Thomas II, Lawrence “Dealy” and Herbert Williams Sr.
She is also survived by 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Services are today at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church, Vacherie, with interment at the church cemetery.
NABOR
LUTCHER – Timmy Nabor, 46, a native of Hester, resident of Lutcher for 10 years and New Orleans for 24 years, died Jan. 1. He was the brother of Smith Jr., Larry, Calvin Sr., Ronald, Lonnie, Jimmy and Donald Nabor Sr.
Services are today at 11 a.m. at Israelite Baptist Church, Lutcher, with interment at Providence Rest Haven Cemetery, LaPlace. Visitation starts at 10 a.m.
SAVOIE
DES ALLEMANDS – Ralph Stephen Savoie, 80, a native and resident of Des Allemands, died Jan. 8. He was the husband of Marian Cantrelle Savoie and father of Clair Schaubhut, Marian Clement and Miranda Hicks.
He was the son of the late Corbett and Sidonia Dufrene Savoie and brother of Loretta Vial, Genevia Rogers and the late Warren and Clarence Savoie Sr.
He is also survived by six grandchildren.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
Services were Jan. 10 at St. Gertrude Catholic Church, Des Allemands, with interment at the church cemetery.
SIMONEAUX
LAPLACE – Murphy D. Simoneaux, 83, a native and resident of LaPlace, died Jan. 10. He was the husband of Lilly Michel Simoneaux and father of Sharon Triche, Brenda Lowry, Elaine Hintz, Debbie Roussel and Ralph Simoneaux.
He was the son of the late Felix Sr. and Sedonia Vicknair Simoneaux and brother of Heloise Tassin, Felix Simoneaux Jr. and the late Albertine Perilloux, Sedonia Labat and Clarence, Edgar, Melvin and F.A. Simoneaux.
He is also survived by nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one grandchild.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Services are today at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Millet-Guidry Funeral Home, LaPlace, with interment at St. Peter Cemetery, Reserve. Visitation starts at 8 a.m.
SONIAT
DESTREHAN – Lois Granier Soniat, 73, a native of New Orleans and resident of St. Rose for 24 years, died Jan. 8. She was the wife of the late Robert Soniat and mother of Sally Ann Melancon-Knight and James and Anthony Soniat.
She was the daughter of the late Lucille Tassin and Edmond Granier and sister of Doris Waguespack and the late Lionel Granier.
She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services were Jan. 11 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Destrehan, with interment at the church cemetery.
YOUNG
LAPLACE – Renalda Diggs Young, 23, a native of Reserve and resident of Destrehan, died Jan. 4.
She was the wife of Alton Young and mother of Reneisha, Raisha and Al’Teron Diggs.
She was the daughter of Joanne Diggs and Clinton Crockens, sister of Renaldo Friloux and Clinton Jr., Clerence, Lindell, Lionel, Christen, Chastity and Lynnell Crockens and granddaughter of Rose Diggs.
Services were Jan. 9 at Milesville Memorial Church of God in Christ, LaPlace, with interment at Montz Memorial Cemetery, Montz.
