A unity rally for disaster relief for New York and Washington, D.C. firemen, policemen and military assistance is from 2-6 p.m. at the West Bank Bridge Park in Luling. Live music, refreshments and food will be featured. Participants should bring lawn chairs, an ice chest and an American flag. All proceeds will benefit the disaster relief.

Low-cost spay/neuter of cats and dogs for qualifying residents of St. Charles Parish begins at 8 a.m. at the St. Charles Parish Animal Shelter, across from Westbank Bridge Park. Pets must be restrained on a leash or in a carrier and will be served on a first-come, first-served basis. Pets should not have food or water after 10 p.m. the night before surgery. Pets will go home the same day. Participants may also enter a drawing for a $50 Wal-Mart gift card. This event is sponsored by Wal-Mart and the St. Charles Humane Society.
